Re: Reuters report on Lego at New York Toy Fair

(...) Anybody who doesn't like Pink Lego should go visit the Art Deco district of Miami Beach. It gives new meaning to building with color. Gary Istok (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)

FA: 1958 European Dealer Window Box - rarest Lego set ever? Also FA, European Town Plan board

I have been forced to choose between my love of Lego trains and my two most prized possessions in my Lego collection. I am now auctioning the Dealer Window Box I bought in Switzerland. This item, along with the town plan board, was in the warehouse (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-00, to lugnet.market.auction)

Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

Wow Eric, great job! Looks like small town Main Street USA. I really love folks building in historical styles. With attention to historical detail, the results can be great. I noticed Eric that you used one of my favorite pieces, namely the very (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

And who knows..... when an expanded window assortment is available, there will be a lot of towns that will emulate the real world towns and cities, namely when the land area becomes too cramped, there is nowhere else to go but up..... skyscrapers (...)   Re: 1 x 12x 3 white arches?

(...) Yes, they are pretty scarce. I have 6 of them that I bought in an auction. Besides the 1x4x5 half arches in red or yellow, I would label these as the rarest of the arches. The red 1x12x3 arches are not far behind, but they are more plentiful (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)

  Old question for LEGO Direct

Hi Jake, Tomas and folks at LD. I have asked this questions a few times before, but I was still wondering...... 2001 is the 40th Anniversary of LEGO in the USA. But due to the Samsonite years of 1961-72, I don't think that LEGO recognizes it as such (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

I was browsing some of the LUGNET sites I usually don't have time for, such as lugnet.town, (I usually hang out in lugnet.general) when I stumbled across this classic beauty.... (URL) Chan built this nice classical building called Laural Hall. He (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

(...) I know where you're coming from. Back in 1987 I bought NINETY of the 517 small basic sets just to get enough windows (180 1x4x3 yellow and 180 1x2x2 yellow) to finish my 25 story ONE SHELL PLAZA Art Deco office building back then (building is (...) John proportionality is important, but I don't think your buildings are too large. Perhaps their layout is too small??? :-) Actually the best look is what I call the "cluster look". It looks better if you have large structures in groupings. Say 3 (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Is there a "Bottleneck in Billund"?

Is there a bottleneck in Billund? No I don't mean problems in bulks sales, what I mean is "rare colors". I recently talked to someone (unnamed) who was visiting LEGOLAND in Billund, and got to meet with some folks at the company. I was informed that (...) OK, now what we have to do is to figure out what 45 degree brown slopes are available, and which ones aren't (too bad Rob Farver isn't around to help here). I know I've seen a few of these around. So we now have the 4x2 sloped brick, and the 4x2 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)
