From 1955-65 LEGO made the Esso Service Station. This came in set #310
(in Europe only) and in the Town Plan sets #810 (Europe/Austrailia/New
Zealand) and #725 (USA/Canada). On an older post, I mentioned the fact
that in the earlier years (1955-61) TLC literal hand painted a red
stripe along the side edges of the white plates used for the roof of the
service station. Here is a Japanese website that shows this in great
detail (both the earlier and later versions of the set). If you ever
come across very old white plates with some red paint on the side, you
will know where they originated!

| I really like the shape of that station. Too bad LEGO doesn't put out such a cool looking station now days (in mini-fig scale) Gary Istok <gistok@umich.edu> wrote in message news:3A96E56D.594615...ich.edu... (...) (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)
