| (...) If that brick has a "ruffled" look to the 4 "wall" brick surface (can't remember if the texture is on the inside or outside) then it indeed is a #245. I have this set from the first year it came out (1957), and yes it has a small bulb that (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

| | History of the Oldest LEGO Garages
|
| Some of you have probably seen the old LEGO flip-top garage kits from the era 1955-70. These were made for those old metal wheeled cars. The sets that had these were #235 (3 piece garage door kit), #236 (entire garage), #310 Esso Service Station, (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

| Thanks Kevin, I am always glad to help other AFOL's unravel the mystery of old LEGO! One other note on this one, in Europe, the spare parts boxes (erzatzteile in German) that the non-chain toy stores carry probably still have some of these lamps (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

| Here's my take on this: I was 6 years when I got my first LEGO...... 1960 - 500 pieces. (one year before LEGO in USA, but relative in Germany sent it) 1965 - 3000 pieces 1968 - 5000 pieces 1969-79 (Dark Ages, but kept all my old LEGO) 1979 - 15,000 (...) | (...) I too am not sure about Minitalia's original date, but they were around as early as 1972, if not earlier. But there are a few things that I think that LEGO used in Minitalia that later became common in regular LEGO. One is the 1x4x3 window. (...) (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.town)
