Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) The Nerd Herd cars are never smeared with sooty grease that I can recall. Utterly destroyed, on occassion, but otherwise they are clean and pristine. (...) Did I say functional model steam locomotives? Because I meant the kind that can flatten (...) (15 years ago, 6-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

--snip-- (...) I remember how pleased I was with the brown 1x2 brick and 1x2 plate I got as horse filler back in the 80s. And green was what baseplates and trees came in. I can just remember when grey was rare. Of course those lucky dogs in the LEGO (...) (15 years ago, 6-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) Dood! Model railroaders go to great lengths to get that "weathered look!" (URL) When I was with the GMLTC, we did a show that featured an amazing guy who scratch-built these beautiful 8" gauge live steam locos. They were unfreaking believable! (...)   Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) The painted silver parts can take a certain amount of abuse (I mean, the stuff doesn't flake off when you rub it, so...), and simply tipping over probably isn't enough to do much damage unless it's at high speed on, say, some sort of natural (...)   Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) Lol, just bustin' your chops! (URL) (...) Yup. I took on the "dark blue" challenge with (URL) this trolley>. Ahh, the good old days. Remember when orange was new? Or how about green. JOHN (15 years ago, 6-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) I assure you any laying down of challenges was entirely unintentional ;) (...) Hah! You're going to have a really fun time detailing that one. There's a certain charm to building in the metallic colours. It's like dark blue in the good old (...) (15 years ago, 6-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) Not so fast, Speedy. Although that is a beautiful MOC (which I hadn't seen until now; thanks for showing it), you've never seen my first metallic silver effect that I built a few months ago. (You haven't seen it because I haven't posted a pic (...) (15 years ago, 5-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) Thanks, John! Being a sharp-eyed building connoisseur, you not doubt surmised that the "secret" to the roof is attaching all of the 2x2 tiles using only their center tube. The 1x6s are attached using perpendicular half studs. JOHN (15 years ago, 5-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) That was in fact the first part of the model that caught my eye. Well-played all around, John! (15 years ago, 4-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) Nice! Shiny toys are good. But... you're not the most insane user of metallic silver on a train. That honour goes to Peter Norman (URL) ;) Tim (15 years ago, 5-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) Whoa, thanks for the heads up. Our tree is in a carpeted room, and I doubt I'll ever run the thing except around Christmas time. It'll probably spend most of its life on display. Sad to hear about the scratching issues, Dave. I will remember (...) (15 years ago, 4-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

(...) In-home, floor level use is probably fine, but if you ever run that on a layout you better hope that it doesn't take a spill, or the silver paint is likely to get uglified. I was never really sure if they were painted or not, but recently I (...) (15 years ago, 4-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Christmas Trolley in Metallic Silver (drool)

Here is a little trolley that I built yesterday to run around the Christmas tree this year: (URL) Aside from the WOW factor of seeing a MOC completely in a rare color, it was a pretty straight-forward build. The only tricky part was the fact that I (...) (15 years ago, 4-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX) !

Re: My Latest Iteration of Thomas the Tank Engine (with BBB wheels:-)

My Latest Iteration of Thomas the Tank Engine (with BBB wheels:-)

In my never ending pursuit of the perfect Thomas MOC, there has been a HUGE development: Years ago I begged Ben Fleskes to make some BBB wheels in blue. Though I'm not sure it was because of my begging, he has FINALLY produced BBB wheels in blue (...) (17 years ago, 29-Nov-07, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, FTX) !!
