Re: Even more Wow!! for your buck!!! was Re: Woo Hoo!!!!! (part deux...)

(...) An easy solution to this is to have two locomotives in the train, each tuned to the same DCC channel. If one loco loses communication, the other will push it through the bad spots... That probably why real trains have two locos, right? :) (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jun-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

(...) We tried, you know? :-) I could do with one more controller, but then since I want the cargo train I won't be after anyone else's. I'd have preferred a left-hand point instead, too. Blast. I can wait till The Big Shop at LLW get them though. (...) (21 years ago, 28-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) The latter I think... by having a truck long gap, the motor coasts across the gap but never shorts out from one wheel set to the other, once it hits the powered side again (even though the polarity is reversed) it just continues on. (...) I've never done any modelling apart from Lego. So these pictures are my real laypout. I started using non-lego like this when I began a round-the-room track and realised it was too impractical to build lego scenery. I use the conventional (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Yes, I see your point, but is the rail vehicle worth $10 U.S.? Everyone who is a "trainhead" wants a Level Crossing at $30 but we are hesitant to purchase one at $50. I, for one, don't want a 6 wide baseplate. Why? I've got hundreds of 4 wide (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: DCC for the RCX

Hi Dryden, DCC sends information to the decoders by flipping the polarity of the power supply in a specific timing sequence. So, it's not like the X-10 protocol. To get more power to run more locomotives, you need something called a DCC booster. The (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.trains)
