8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
I almost forgot-- here are a few shots of my engine shed. Please excuse the frequency of my posts-- that's what happens when you finally get a new digital camera;-) (URL) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains) !

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —James Mathis
This is a very nice building. Woah! Lot's of windows. Wheh! What I really like are the track doors: The black arch piece attached to the top of the door looks good. I'd like to see a close-up of how the door is constructed and the black arch piece (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Mike Poindexter
I think that the doors are just 1x bricks attached with the 1x2,1x2 hinge pieces. No tricky attachment there, just a lot of black bricks. Mike James Mathis <thakius@nmt.edu> wrote in message news:FstD4y.LJ5@lugnet.com... (...) the (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
(...) Pretty basic, actually. I took a few more pics showing the doors and the other sides of the shed. At the suggestion of some off-line folk, I added a circular window in the front. I hope to locate some of those arches in red soon. (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
(...) That part is intended as an office room or so I thought; perhaps Lar can shed <sorry> some light on it's function. I was modeling from a few protos from a Walther's catalog-- perhaps I can get a few scans. -John (...) (24 years ago, 17-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Right. If it is wrong, I'm wrong too, as I have a much lower shed like appurtenance on the side of the car shop I did in blue/grey on the GMLTC yard module. I tend to agree, offices may well be single story while the main car or engine house (...) (24 years ago, 17-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —James Mathis
Thanks for the close-up pictures. I thought (incorrectly) that you had used some black "doors" from the castle or ninja sets or something and had mounted the black arches to those doors. The doors you "built" look very nice. I really like the shed. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
(...) lol Nothing as exotic as that;-) --although that was my first inclination to use Ninja doors. BTW, here is a picture from a Walther's catalog showing the prototype which inspired my shed: (URL) The doors you "built" look very nice. I really (...)         Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Kevin Wilson
(...) Nice building John! Nice photo too. So, when are you going to start weathering these models? Those lovely white windows and door are much too pristine for an engine shed <G,d & r> Kevin (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
Hi John! Indeed, very nice pictures! I wish the 45° sloped roof bricks would be available as supplementary box in germany too. We have no Lego® roof bricks left to buy here. During the last years we could get at least 22° bricks in red...... (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
Thanks, Ben. Finally TLC came out with a decent set! It came with a lot of red windows and black low slopes. I'm surprised you haven't seen it in Deutschland yet-- maybe just a special release in the US? -John (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

John, Which set are you referring to? Or do you mean service packs 5216 & 5149? jt (...) -- ---...--- James J. Trobaugh North Georgia LEGO Train Club (URL) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Mike Poindexter
He is referring to set #3225, which is ironic, as it first appeared in Germany, IIRC. Of course, John bought 46 copies, which is excessive, even for set hogs like the GMLTC. ;-) Mike Poindexter (...) bricks (...) in (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —James J. Trobaugh
Oh, I thought he was referring to the red windows on his engine shed. I couldn't figure out what recent set would have had those (besides the service pack or some freestyle sets)... got it now, I think. Thanks jt (...) North Georgia LEGO Train Club (...)          Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
Actually, I was trying to pull Ben's leg and have him think the shed was a set (since he collectively pulled ours;). Hopefully, it dazed him briefly;-) Mike is about right-- I bought 44 classic train sets to get the black 4x3 and 3x3 slopes for the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
(...) Hi John, yes your trial was a little successful. ;-) I really thought you could buy all kind of roof bricks via shop at home. At least I'm quite sure you can get the 45° sloped bricks in black: that's right, isn't it? And yes we have had the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Robert Green
Wow. It is a real shame that TLC would not make such a high quality set. I know I would splurge (uh, spend) whatever it took to buy one of those! Great job on the engine shed, could you post a few pictures from the other side? Wayne G. (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —Christopher Tracey
(...) Wow! Nice engineshed John. I've been playing around with building a two stall enginehouse/shop myself. Here are some pics of it from last Sunday's WAMALUG meeting: (URL) nowhere near finished yet. I'm really not happy with the roof- so I am (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed —John Neal
(...) I just paged through the Walther's HO catalog to look for ideas. I would recommend it to everyone-- it is packed with ideas for practically anything you'd want to model on a train layout.
