This is extremely cool, and I have to say that it warms my heart to see so many

Not exactly a clone brand.
A clone brand is one that seeks to just copy LEGO's products, most like to make
a quick buck. Clone brand products can be easily used by themselves. Not quite
so with ME Models's metal rails, though you could if you're creative/inventive
enough, which would likely include most of us.
ME Models would be more like a complementary brand. Like using after-market
items on/in your car, especially items not made by the car's manufacturer.
The same would go for HiTechnic sensors and Big Ben's wheels.

Give it a complementary Splat!
