Q: Are the rails available separately? That is, w/o the sleeper pieces.
The poly bag sets as well as the longer sections come without the 2X8 plates
included.  We have thrown in the connector pieces with every kit.  You are free
to use them if you want, but removing them from the kits will not really save
you any money as their cost is negligible.

Q: Are/will all the holes in the curved rails (be) evenly spaced in groups of 2? The idea is so whether 1x8 or 2x8 sleepers are used, they'll be evenly spaced.
We were just discussing this the other day regarding how the holes should be
drilled.  The problem is, we have to pick one or the other.  We thought about
channeling them on the bottom, but felt that this would weaken the structure of
the rail, therefore, we need to drill them like the straights.  Now, the problem
is, when drilling them, they have to be done, as you suggested, in pairs so that
everything lines up.  Putting in extra holes might be an option, but the problem
is, we would end up with more holes in the outside rail versus the inside.  If
it's possible, we'll do it, but right now, my thinking is they will have to be
in matched pairs.

One more Q:
What do you put on the studs of custom pieces? (since you obviously cannot put LEGO on the studs)
Right now they're blank.  For a mere donation of $1700, we can put ME on them.
:D

(...) For those of us who add ballast and individual ties to our track the placement of holes along the curved rails will be a key point. (...) The old 4.5v curves just had a channel if I'm remembering OK, they had just one one anti-stud halfway along as well as one at each end - allowing for very flexible sleeper placement. Would something like that be possible? ROSCO (14 years ago, 7-Apr-11, to lugnet.trains)
