Re: Parts I wish TLC made —David Laswell
(...) Whoops. Not being a Train collector, I didn't actually realize that these were customized parts. I had to track down images of the switching rails and curved rails so I could count the ties (there are 5 missing between the switching tracks on (...) (22 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Jeff Christner
(...) If I understand the concern above correctly, using the switches like this does not effect the usage of regular switches to make sidings and such if the switches that are modified are used together to make a true crossover. I hope it's ok to (...) (22 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Larry Pieniazek
Congrats on the 20,000th post to .trains! Wow, 20,000 posts! That's a lot of info. (...) I think it is OK to post such a link (to a closed auction) since it's for information use and you don't have a conventional site. In future if you do auction (...)          Re: 20,000 .trains posts —John Gerlach
(...) And just how many of the 20,000 are from Larry? <grin> JohnG, GMLTC fut lugnet.larry ;-) (22 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Rick Clark
(...) I would also have bid, had I known about these. Unfortunately, I don't check market.auction very regularly. Would it have been permissible (TOS-wise) to say in .trains, "I just built these new custom switches. Also, I'll be auctioning them (...) (22 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Matthew J. Chiles
From how I understand auctions and their acceptance here (based on recent converstations with Larry P) it would be permissible to post something like this here in lugnet.trains: "I just invented a cool switch, here are the pics, bla, bla, bla... I (...) (22 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Just to forestall any questions... In which Matt asked my opinion, and I gave it, as just another user, nothing more. I think what was outlined is correct but it IS a fuzzy area. I just hope if these ever go up again I hear about it, or (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Matt Canales
(...) I think it perfectly acceptable if it's a closed auction, which this one happened to be :) (...) Although that is a good idea, I still say it was a closed auction which is fine :) (...) The only reason I would say no to selling your Lego on (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Jeff Christner
(...) Wow, I didn't even notice that, cool. (...) I did post about it in market.auction, but the only people who contacted me about the track did so after the auction ended. I sort of wanted to get a base price for what people were willing to pay (...) (22 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Rick Clark
In lugnet.trains, Jeff Christner writes: <snip> (...) I'd say the $80 was quite reasonable, and the lack of response should not be read as a lack of interest. Probably most of the train folk are like me, and don't often (or ever) check (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Ed McGlynn
(...) *snip* (...) Hi Jeff - I remember your Nova switching yard site well. I have a bunch of O-scale Kadee couplers attached to LEGO plates based on your ideas from several years ago, and now I shudder because I showed them to John last weekend! (...)         Re: Parts I wish TLC made —David Laswell
(...) Amusingly, your custom switch tracks appear to have the exact same spacing as the ones that John posted at the beginning of this thread. He appears to have dealt with the fragility problem by bridging the split with a 4x6 plate. Granted, it's (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —Jeff Christner
(...) I think in order to maintain the correct distance between parallel tracks in layouts constructed with regular LEGO track pieces, anyone making these would have to use the same spacing. I think it allows these custom type pieces to be more (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts I wish TLC made —John Barnes
I used a 48x48 stud base plate as "form" to mount the points (switches?) on while they were being "processed". The error in the track change switching arrangement must be a lot less than 1 stud as nothing seemed to bow or strain during the placement (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.trains)
