Re: Super Chief dark gray hand holds.

(...) Check your shipment packaging carefully before you discard it. The separate package referred to (in many posts prior to yours, but this group is quite overwhelming to read lately, so you may not have taken the time to browse before posting) (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Super Chief dark gray hand holds.

There was an error in packing the 10020. You should have got a separate pack containing the parts you seek - it will be noted on your invoice. If you did not, contact s@h and they will help you out. Scott A =+= Have you inspected Arthur’s Seat yet? (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Porthole alternative

Come on Lar, I think we can all see the difference between posting a message saying XX parts now in my brinklink store, and a link to an image that shows a valuable building technique which also states in the image (and not in the original posting) (...)   Re: Sante Fe Wish List

(...) You're still not understanding the math. Put it this way, lets say I have A8888, what is the chance that when I buy a B unit I get B8888? One in 9995. The one in 99900025 chance is the chance you would have to get both A0006 and B0006 (or (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Max. Track Slope

(...) A lot depends on how you'll control the train. If you're happy to put the power on going uphill and ease off going downhill, then most trains will climb a 2 plate/section incline. If you just want to be able to leave the train running, you'll (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I had to look that one up, Larry. (...) Yea, it's funny to try and imagine Brad and his small team doing that. (...) I suspect they preformed a small ballet with a few forklifttrucks, and there where 100 sets on each pallet. With friendly (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 wide Super Chief (Kjeld was right!)

(...) I actually *did* think he was kidding when he told the story, and so I asked him about it after the Q&A whether he was pulling my leg or not. Not:-) (...)   Re: 8 wide Super Chief (Kjeld was right!)

(...) Thanks, Chris. The windscreen idea came from Dan Siskind. Here is a pic from our last show of an Amtrak F45 he did: (URL) was really made possible by the advent of a new Racers piece, a red 2x4 angled plate used as a spoiler in many of the (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 wide Super Chief (Kjeld was right!)

(...) Thanks, Andreas-- you asked for it, you got it, Toyota;-) As for brick count, well, I couldn't even guess. I did *a lot* of SNOT work which is really a lot of monkey business that drives up piece count. Comparing mine with the 10020 in a way (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Max. Track Slope

When I first tried to build my own ramps, I just followed much of the suggestions mentioned by Ross (way back in 1996!). Track Designer can help you out when planning it.   Max. Track Slope

I'm working on a new layout and want to have a track line that goes 'underneath' my table like a subway. Has anyone done something like this before? I'm interested to know what the max. slope is that I can have on the up-ramp before the train (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 wide Super Chief (Kjeld was right!)

(...) Nice job, John. This may be the first honest comparison between 6-wide and 8-wide models. Since there has been a debate on how many more bricks it takes to go to 8-wide, could you give an estimate as to how many pieces it took to build this (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: PNLTC pictures of GATS 2002 in Portland are up

(...) Nicely done. I almost thought that the other train clubs had started to catch up with the quality of your shows, and now you've raised the bar to a totally new level. I really liked all of your new crowd pleasers. Thanks, Andreas (URL) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)
