A while back, Brad was in Billund, and he was showing off to Kjeld the
pre-production 10020.  As Kjeld was "Oohing" and "Ahhing" over the
model, he said to Brad, "But if we made it 8 wide, we could put in more
detail!"  That's not quite the end of the story, but it was enough for
me!  Kjeld is a closet 8 wide admirer!!! {:^D

What Brad was probably thinking, when he told that story, but didn't
say was: "...and if you believe that, I've got a Galaxy Explorer to
sell you"!

I actually *did* think he was kidding when he told the story, and so I asked him
about it after the Q&A whether he was pulling my leg or not.  Not:-)

Since I haven't received my 10020s yet, I wasn't able to use any of the
special parts created for it, so what you see is created from my
"pile";-)  I took some design cues from the 10020 because I wanted to
compare them, but basically I modeled from pics and schematics from
books.  I may leave this MOC intact and build another from kit-bashed
10020 parts; I haven't decided yet.  Both headlights work and there is
also a cabin light-- I'll have to take some pics in the dark to show
those off.

Nice.  I especially like the windshield.  But you're missing the
portholes in the side....  should've bought some of Bram's windows
while you had the chance ;-)

Well, I did put 1x2x2 thin walls where they will go when I kit bash my
10020s....

The only thing I would change is the curves on the roof.  The real
F-type is more curvy than this.  I think the curved bricks work great
in 6-wide, but on an 8-wide the overall effect is a little too boxy.
Maybe you can get better results with slopes?

I'm not a fan of slopes for rounded roofs.   To me, they are a lot more wrong
than curves that are too flat.  Actually, if I stepped the roof a tile or 2, it
would be about right, but the overall effect of using curves *and* steps would
look bad IMO.  I'd rather half-step the whole roof than do that, and *that's* a
lot of monkey business, not to mention expensive;-)
