There is a very anoying bug in Acrobat, and it might be the source of your
problems.
Sometimes, opening a PDF inside Explorer seems to "hang" all the windows.
Just minimize every window on your desktop and you will probably see a
dialog asking you "do you want to check for updates to Acrobat" or "An
update is available"
Click on yes or no (your choice) and everything will work ok.
