How much would you spend, $20, $40, $60?

I thought about adding a potentiometer to limit the upper speed that could
be accessed with a small screw driver through a hole, that optionally could
be drilled in the base opposite the AC plug.

I also thought about an IR remote receiver. Another hole would be needed for
the IR receiver.

Any comments?

So, you mean that heavy trains would actually be able to run slowly instead of
not running at all at settings like 1, 2, or 3?

Hmm... an IR remote receiver, would it be IRDA compliant? could I run it from my
Mac? :) Would you be able to make power transitions smooth (No more steps)?

Actually, pulsed low power settings would be nice, but smooth transitions would
be even nicer. Can that even be done solid state, or do you need a more
traditional rheostat to do smooth power transitions? I am not certain what I
would do with an IR receiver.

$20 yeah, $40 maybe probably, $60 probably not.

Chris
