Brit-Rail APT (Advanced Passenger Train) —James Mathis
I've been working on a pendular mechanism to tilt train cars through curves. A fun project! :-) There are quite a few train sets now that employ some type of pendular scheme, now; but, for me the Brit-Rail APT was my first introduction to a tilting (...) (23 years ago, 30-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

		(...) No physical model, yet. I am running very low on train-specific elements such as wheels, doors, roof elements, and windows. Except for the gray low slope roof elements, all available at S@H. 			Sporadic? Moi? I have some trad photos somewhere detailing the bogeys which can be scanned - I have not the patience or the desire to set up my own website right now but when scanned they can of course be emailed or put on someone else's site. 		(...) For a passive tilt mechanism: It depends on where the pendular axis is located. If the axis of rotation is above the wagon's center of gravity, then the wagon would tilt such that the base of the wagon swing out in the curve- a "correct" tilt. (...)
