  PNLTC Breaks World Record for Longest LEGO train track
 
On Saturday, August 19, PNLTC broke the previous record for longest LEGO train track, about 1780 feet. The new world record stands at 3343 feet! It took 42 minutes to travel the distance. Kevin, the black supports to the right of my rail ferry were actually standard monorail supports under the monorail line that paralleled the bridge. You are correct, however, in stating that Wayne did use temporary supports (Znap) under his (...) (24 years ago, 22-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build)

Kevin A slight correction - Wayne did have some temporary Znap supports that were in place while he was connecting the "cables". The monorail stanchions(sp?) in the picture are just that. I have noticed that box cars and hoppers (not all but a lot of them) are the same height as engines, flat beds with truck trailers are a bit higher, double stacks are a bit higher, autoracks are a bit higher, and tanks are a bit lower. So where do (...) (24 years ago, 22-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

I've been having another play with my coal unloader. I finally figured out why the chain drive multiplexer didn't work repeatably...I was pulling so far above the slide point that it was tipping the moved motor. Today I couldn't make it to the PNLTC display until after it was already being taken down, but I finally saw the various ambassador cars. Ed, Thanks for the idea and the praise. I mentioned it on my site, but in case you missed it the switch fails if it is run a power setting 6. Chris - You've successfully addressed a problem that I noticed with the switching toggle tabs on the points - they do start to flex after some time. That made me nervous too. I never broke a tab, but they did get more pliable and actually stayed (...) (24 years ago, 18-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

Today my son and I went to see the PNLTC Track being setup. I personally think you are doing that to not be outdone by the "other" LegoModular style LTC. God knows you would never hear the end of it if your layout was still stuck on 6 wide while ours was running 8 wides without any problems. Mike Poindexter (...) (...) We had to leave the two middle sections of the train yard home, because we had no way to ship them. For the uninitiated: The layout is usually 45" longer (left-to-right). Much of the yard seems missing (the distance between the car shop (grey building on left) and roundhouse (red building on right) seems somewhat shorter than when at the NMRA. (...) Ok, so I took the plunge and uploaded two (of the >200 I took) pictures from when we displayed our layout at LEGOLAND Carlsbad: (URL) for the *huge* file sizes, my 3.3megapixel camera takes BIG pictures, and I don't have the software here at work to (...)
