Okay. Since I've been fingered (thanks a lot, David >;-), I proudly accept full
responsibility for the Great International LEGO Train Wreck of 2000!
In my own defense, a support had fallen from under the elevated track, and I was
trying to prop it back up. Nevertheless, I will readily admit to thinking that
the crash was very, very, very cool. And what's a LEGO train event without
crashes, anyway?
When the webcam archive gets posted, check the group shot of the club.
Especially look for the six train pile-up in the foreground... That's my
handiwork too. Another case of a bright idea gone horribly wrong. I was trying
to pose a loco by picking it up off the track. Didn't realize that there was a
pusher at the rear. And everyone was so busy posing for the group shot, that no
one got around to turning off the power. One after another on the concentric
rings, the trains came unsuspectingly barrelling around. It was pretty
spectacular.
Those are the only two crashes I can actually take credit for. But I was also
the self-appointed photography coordinator for any other crashes I witnessed.
That means when I saw a train crash, I came running over yelling, "Don't clean
it up! Get a picture first!"
Anyway, I will accept whatever penance is deemed appropriate by the community.
