The Steam Engines of Sava Railways

Blame John, he was the one who said I needed to do a group shot. Since my wife was about to commandeer the last unused table and white sheet for her snow village, I decided that this was the time to do it. (URL) A few more pictures in the (URL) (...)   Re: Sava Railways' #982 "Lady" (with Big Ben's Medium Drivers)

(...) I'd love to do it in dark blue, but I would have to sacrifice a lot of curves and detail given the lack of currently available dark blue parts. More than likely I'd be building it in regular blue. (plus BBB wheels come in regular blue) (...) (...) (17 years ago, 27-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

(2 URLs) Flickr> (URL) BS> Hi all, I finally got around to building some new rolling stock. As I have no internet at home I had to build it from a model from a magazine ((URL) Modeller>) but I tried to get it as accurate to the model as I could. As (...)   Re: Sava Railways' #982 "Lady" (with Big Ben's Medium Drivers)

(...) Tough choice. #425 is a nice Loco and dark blue steam would rock. (URL) The (URL) Pennsy T-1 Duplex> is just awesome and is on my build list. A note on color though. All T-1s were painted standard Pennsy Dark Green Locomotive Enamel (Brunswick (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Take a Ride on the Reading ( 0-6-0T Reading Switcher using Big Ben Bricks New Medium Drivers)

(...) Thanks Since #1251 spent most of its time moving other locomotives around the Reading shops it doesn't look to far out of place when being shoved by another powered loco. Here is a pic with the updated tank. New (URL) Old (URL) And a cab shot (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pittsburgh & Lake Erie RR Caboose and Hopper

(...) Naturally after I posted this, I immediately noticed that the suggested piece is defintely the wrong angle... answering my own question. Someone with a better part knowledge may have other ideas, but have to say a great job tackling a (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pittsburgh & Lake Erie RR Caboose and Hopper

(...) Cale, Wow. Great units and great details on both. The interior work on the caboose is awesome and inspiring. I will definitely be borrowing some ideas to improve my car interiors. Tremendous work. One question. I was wondering if you (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Sava Railways' #982 "Lady" (with Big Ben's Medium Drivers)

(...) Thanks much! I really don't think I deserve a discount, but I have to admit my wife would appreciate it, what with all the wheels I've bought :) Plus it seems like every week I find some new design I'd love to tinker with (much to my wife's (...)   Re: Sava Railways' #982 "Lady" (with Big Ben's Medium Drivers)

(...) Thanks much! Coming from someone who's seen the original I consider that high praise. I wish I could have seen Puffy in person, and if I ever do I may revise Lady. Pictures of Puffy are somewhat hard to come by, especially of her right in (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Sava Railways' #982 "Lady" (with Big Ben's Medium Drivers)

(...) Thanks! I've been toying with the idea of adding flags to all of my locos, but I'll probably stop with the "older" models where'd they'd be more appropriate and fit in better. --Tony (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Sava Railways' #982 "Lady" (with Big Ben's Medium Drivers)

(...) Thanks John! She was a fun build, I started her the day I got the new drivers. I'm just a little disappointed that the new drivers can't be stacked close together like the larger versions, but only just a little. Overall they perform very well (...)   Re: Take a Ride on the Reading ( 0-6-0T Reading Switcher using Big Ben Bricks New Medium Drivers)

(...) I just wanted to add a 'me too' to your steamer. I really can't add anything that hasn't already been said or addressed. I agree that the tank shroud around the boiler could be more smooth, but the aforementioned cheese slope additions should (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: New racer windshield/train roof

(...) Very sweet, I hope we get a 2x1 version as well. Looks like it's in white as well as black: (URL) I also noticed a dark bley center drop train base. And new cab top peice: (2 URLs) And check out the microtrain: (URL) And a new (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.inv, lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts)

  New racer windshield/train roof

Maybe I'm late to noticing this but check out the 'windshield' on the next batch of racers: (URL) Looks to me like a VERY useful part. Jonathan (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.inv, lugnet.trains)

Re: Take a Ride on the Reading ( 0-6-0T Reading Switcher using Big Ben Bricks New Medium Drivers)

(...) Thanks Ben I tried out the 1x1 slopes. It definitely helps smooth things out more. The cab interior still needs a bit of work. I,m not quite happy with the detailing yet. The cramped space makes it challenging. I'll get some pics up in the (...) (17 years ago, 26-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Hiawatha steam locomotive

(...) Oh, that's fantastic news, Benn! Although the brown is perhaps closer in tonal value to the Hi's dark red, it seemed a bit odd to me to go with that color instead of TLG's dark red. I'm very excited to see your "repaint"! :-) I will be (...) (17 years ago, 24-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Hiawatha steam locomotive

(...) Hi Cale (and Tony), thanks as well for the kind words. As background, the Hi has three sets of wheels, I chose to fix the pilot truck and the drivers to the boiler, using only one set of flanged drivers. Without reworking the whole mechanics, (...)   Re: Hiawatha steam locomotive

(...) Hey John, thanks for the kind words. Indeed, Ross might be one of the best steam builders out there. I don't know how you manage to get those huge trains moving with the little 9v motors, but they are slick. I'm happy with my quiet little (...) (17 years ago, 24-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
