  Pictures on the GATS website

I did a quick check and didn't see that anyone else had mentioned this recently. I was just browsing through the Lego images on Altavista today and found that the official GATS (Great American Train Show) web site has pictures up from the Lego (...) (25 years ago, 25-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Sombody got a good deal... and I was out bid

(...) Can I ask how high you would have went on it? BTW : I missed out on a local 4559 last night for ~$105. I think a local LUGNeter got it, so I do not feel quite so bad about it. Scott A (25 years ago, 25-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego train club for the Saint Louis area?

(...) interested (...) This whole thread is very encouraging. I live to far to join, (Little Rock, AR) but am meeting with a couple of other to start a LTC here. We have a plan for a 8 x 32 12 module layout. Hope to have it ready for the GATS shows (...) (25 years ago, 25-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: LTMA vs NMRA

(...) Sure Tony, a SIG is a Special Interest Group. It is how the NMRA (which is actually quite international) describes subgroups within the NMRA. For example, there is a DCC SIG, the Layout Design SIG, and the Narrow Gauge SIG ect... James (25 years ago, 25-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Sombody got a good deal... and I was out bid

(...) I jumped on the LEGO train a little late. So now I'm spending huge $$$ to get caught up. But now I am broke. So Scott, the next one is yours. BTW - Larry, with the addition of this club car, I believe I will be 9v train complete. Russ Redmyer (...) (25 years ago, 25-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Number of motor units on one loop

A short while back there was a thread about the number of motor units that would run well on one loop. I've done some playing, and here is what I found: Using up to four motor units increases pulling power with only a small decrease in speed. Five (...) (25 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

track curves on baseplates (was: Re: More Questions from Another Train Newbie)

(...) As long as the track is elevated at least one plate, it's easy to put the curves on the baseplates. Just use some 1-stud plates (1x1 or 1x2) and some tiles in places the studs don't line up. As it pertains to this discussion, if the place (...) (25 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  4.5v Train newbie questions

Just got a 99% complete 7722 the other day in a bulk purchase. I've got a lot of 9v stuff and had never seen any 4.5v gear. Great stuff! The level crossing kill switch is very cool, as are the little things you clip to the track to reverse the train (...) (25 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: LTMA vs NMRA

(...) I think we should have both an NMRA SIG, and an independant LTMA. There will be some duplication of energies, but an LTMA would probably be more capable of making itself visible outside the hobby (article in Mania Magazine, representation at (...) (25 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Sombody got a good deal... and I was out bid

LEGO #4558 Metro liner 1991+bonus set #4547 for $380 (URL) got a good deal... and I was outbid Arg! I've got that "I should have bid more feeling". I've only got a passing interest in trains... but this would have been good! Scott A (25 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: LTMA vs NMRA

I'm of two minds here. I think being inside an organization is often a way to effect change.   Re: LEGO trains...The Future of Model Railroading?

I can't believe that you work in such an esoteric industry (walnuts) and you're allergic to the oil! Talk about ironic. How are you set for large baseplates?
