Re: Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

(...) Hi Larry and Ross, I want to be sure I'm understanding this correctly: The simple act of pushing through the points won't cause the short. In other words, if you push a car with regular wheelsets through the points it won't cause the (...) (20 years ago, 11-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: BBB Steam Wheels session at BrickFest

(...) Hi Steve, Teunis Davey has given me the chassis for his S class steamer to show, and I'll bring my simple shay bogie as well. ROSCO (20 years ago, 11-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.events)

Re: Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

(...) Note that these deliberate, if momentary, shorts may *possibly* have a long term negative effect on your controllers. This would probably not work well with regular Model Railroad gear, but then it's not designed to take the abuse that kids (...) (20 years ago, 11-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

(...) That, as I see it, is the idea. The point B is always set straight. There may be momentary short(s) when the motor pushes it to curve to pass, but once it is past and stops, switching A then supplies it with current, now in the opposite (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

(...) Hello, interesting design and quite simple, but like Larry pointed out, no matter what is the position of "A", if you set "B" to turn, you get a short. Leave "B" to strait amd when a train come to "B", it will push the alingment to pass and (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Interesting idea for boats/towns/train layouts: Falkirk Wheel

(...) That's insane! The website also mentioned that to get boats to the wheel they also had to build the aqueduct and a tunnel. A canal tunnel. Wow. Rick Clark (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.boats, lugnet.trains, lugnet.town, FTX)

Re: Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

(...) Hi and welcome! (I have to ask, out of curiousity and nothing else, what's up with the transposition on your name vs. posting name though, there has to be a story there.. I noticed it when I approved your posting setup recently) (...) Doesn't (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

(...) Hey! That's really neat. I never thought of that. Nice work. (...) You don't need to cut track to make insulations, btw. Just a tiny slip of paper between the connectors will keep electricity from flowing. I recommend marking insulating points (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Reversing Loop without Insulated Tracks

Hello, this is my first post to Lugnet. Maybe this is common knowledge in Lego train community, but I have never seen mentioned that points can be used as insulated tracks. Here is an example of reversing loop with standard Lego parts: (URL) You (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: BF 2004 LTC Container Car Swap

(...) No spy photos of the new NGLTC container, but I will say "It spins" :) jt (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BF 2004 LTC Container Car Swap

(...) I think JT's got it exactly right. Organizations grow and change and keeping multiple containers is a way for other organizations to track that growth and change. Just out of curiosity (not that I won't find out soon enough) what's changing? (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BF 2004 LTC Container Car Swap

(...) I think the "fun" is the collectablilty of the containers. It's natural for the designs to change over time thus making each container a type of time capsule of the event they were swapped at. The NGLTC container will be new this year but I (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BF 2004 LTC Container Car Swap

(...) Mike - The ostensible reason is that it's easier to keep track of everything if we do a direct swap (we failed to keep good track of the original bunch). The real reason is that a few of us in the club don't really like the look of the old (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BF 2004 LTC Container Car Swap

(...) MichLUG/LTC records indicate we have no SCLTC cars. :-) We do, however, have an SCLTC container, which we'd prefer to keep if possible. We would be happy to trade with you for your new one though. (as it turns out, the MichLTC container went (...) (20 years ago, 9-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BF 2004 LTC Container Car Swap

(...) The SCLTC would like to exchange every existing SCLTC car with a brand new 2004 model. We are bringing 22 new containers and would like to bring the old ones back with us. If clubs that have our cars could bring them to DC, it would be greatly (...) (20 years ago, 9-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Interesting idea for boats/towns/train layouts: Falkirk Wheel

The Union Canal in Scotland has a pretty interesting lock mechanism for moving boats between two levels, called the Falkirk Wheel.
