  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) Well, outside of the specifics of the private contract between the consortium members, I think this whole topic is of a potentially HUGE interest to just about everyone who reads here. Unless I throw my $500 in I don't care what you pay per (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) Probably neither. It's a group willing to take a risk to satisfy their own needs, and then make available the surplus to those not willing to take that risk through a fair allocation method, that is, what the market will bear. The amount (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) I'm willing to pool funds to form a "sub-consortium" with those not ready to commit the full 500. (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) Pardon the ignorance, but is the RISK? You get your money back if the deal falls thru or you get the parts from lego, where's the risk? Mark H (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: Train doors and windows

Hey Larry, This consortium, is it a group of like minded cashed up profiteering middle men or a group who are genuinely trying to get the best deal for the rest of us? Just curious. So if the price per piece is > $1.00 and < $5.00, is it closer to (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

OK, it's time for another update. I am copying Christer, who is weekending in Germany, as well as several LUGNET(tm) groups. The following facts may be of interest - A consortium is forming to create the largest order we can. - I am the lead partner (...) (...) Hi Brian, interested in an remote controlled point ??? visit my home page and go to the section 'Trains & Cars & ...' (URL) Frankly, the fact that all these cool features that existed for the 12v (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Remote switching points

(...) Pictures of some sort would help. I think it should be a web page. If you send me the pieces (pics, and the above text, maybe the rcx proggie), I'll put together a page for it on (URL) lego.gerf.org is not functional yet. I plan on adding a (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

Yes. If you wish to get the consortium price you have to participate in the consortium. Those not willing to risk enough of their funds will not reap the reward of paying less than the market will bear. (or take the risk of losing their funds (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) about (...) No, the consorttium would SELL them first. Then auction off the leftovers. You don't have to do anything. Patricia Schempp (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) So, in other words, If I want to buy the items rather than participate in the auction, I have to put up $500? I'm just trying to figure out how I'd go about getting items I want. :) Jeff (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

A consortium is being assembled. Stuff will be sold at one price within the consortium. To make allowances for people wanting more, or less, parts than the dollar amount they invested, that price will be at a markup from cost. Whatever parts are (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train doors and windows

(...) I just want to straighten some things out in my mind. Are you planning on ordering a bunch of these pieces and then selling them, or are you going to take prepaid orders? If you aren't going to take prepaid orders, can we send a pledge of, (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Remote switching points

It really is a shame that Lego no longer makes all the nifty automated light, switch and crossing components. I first saw these in the 1980 European catalog ((URL) , which I still have :). My mom brought it over from a trip to Germany. I was stunned (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Remote switching points

(...) *snip* Christian - You're on the right track (pun) here...my best results for a remotely automated point were to implement a system similar to what you described. I used a 1x6? black technic linking plate to do this - that's the kind with (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Remote switching points

Has anyone tried to automate a point by directly laying a worm (screw) gear on the grey plastic (removing the yellow switch handle)? It seems that that'd work well. I suppose that you'd have to worry about stopping, but if they are switched via a (...) (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Silly train voltage question...

Steve Demlow wrote in message ... (...) Sounds like a good solution. Maybe I will use the extra battery box I have from my Technic motor set. I can fill it with rechargeable AA's and let my son go to town (so to speak). Thanks! Eric (25 years ago, 27-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)
