  Re: Help on 8-wide baseplate

(...) Oh, sure, _you_ can find a way to use one, but I am just a simple man building simple models :) Actually, I responded because I noticed that there is a lot more happening on the bottom of that engine than I noticed before. I don't normally (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Help on 8-wide baseplate

(...) Plates and technic plates are the great, and I agree they are likely the best way to go. But don't forget about the standard train baseplates. You just * might* find a use for one in an 8-wide creation; I did for my German DB 212 locomotive. (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 12 volt track

I would have thought so, too. In fact, I did. But I was wrong. "Beg" does mean "ask for." But "beg the question" does not. Webster's Collegiate, 3a: "evade, sidestep <begged the real problems>." And 3b: "to assume a established or proved <beg the (...) (23 years ago, 25-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

(...) Bachman is correct. I saw it today in TRU and it is a nice little set - the engine, a tender, and two coaches (both different), plus an oval of track and a speed regulator. A bit pricey at $69.99, however, but that's licensing costs for you. (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Help on 8-wide baseplate

(...) I have to agree with Sonnich. Most 8-widers seem to avoid train baseplates. I have not been able to work a train baseplate into any of my designs yet. Go with plate and technic plates and you can build to what ever dimensions you wish. Chris (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Help on 8-wide baseplate

Why don't you make them of technic plates and normal plates? That is easier and you can design them as you want. This is the most commen thing to do I think. I build 7-wide and have to make my baseplates of plates. Just take some time and look at (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Dual Memberships (was "Spyshot!")

(...) The original question was whether he (J-2) being a member of the GMLTC *and* the TCLTC was causing problems. The GMLTC is unique in that almost everything is built from bricks that belong to two people - Conan and his uncle Chuck. We meet at (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

(...) If there's any truth to the licensing, then they've certainly done the next best thing. Make a non-train train set with parts which minimize the cost, but provide instructions for how to use your own train parts (or parts from S@H) to turn it (...)   Re: Spyshot! TCLTC layout pic

(...) To me i can't see as why you wouldn't be able to be a member, its a fairly simple idea he's got there, modules can be built almost anywere, as long as they show up, right!? Josh (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: New MOC: 8 Wide EMD SW1500

  Re: Spyshot! TCLTC layout pic

(...) I've heard both sides of this on and off forum, and to a certain extent I'm sorry I even brought it up... let me try to restate the question, divorcing it from this particular situation. Is it possible to be an active member of more than one (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Announcing my entrance to the Custom Kit Market (pre-production model ore car)...

I've decided to start making custom kits. They will be sold through Brickbay, with a larger description on my website.   Re: Spyshot! TCLTC layout pic

(...) Speaking as an "active" GMLTC member, I think it *is* causing some friction. Of course since J-2 has only attended a couple of GMLTC building sessions in the last several months, perhaps we should consider him an "in name only" member... He (...)
