This does not help you much in Canada, but the LEGO Outlet Store at Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, Virginia has quite a few of the Mag Wheel Master (with labels on the box from Legoland, California) for about US$ 30. Well, I've been thinking about this, and I think it's possible to do with an arrangement like the valve gear on your everyday steam engine. There's also "Crystal Aput" in the Arctic Theme's Polar Base (6575), who has a common female head, but a unique torso, and (reputedly) "Haley Comet" in the largest of the SpacePort sets.
