I still have to build the articulating mechanism and the entire front end, but
from what I have done, it looks pretty cool so far.  Time to buy that digital

I'm a bit of a Johnny come lately in this thread, but I did attempt something
similar to this a wee while ago. The idea was to build a 6 wheel drive Moxy
style articulated dump truck, the chassis for which sounds not dissimilar to
your vehicle. A very simple design idea I had for the suspension can be found
here:

and a DAT file here:

The design is a little gouche, but I think a variant on it may well work when
it get round to building the thing. The main thing was that it allowed the
differential to be mounted stationary in the middle of the chassis, and did
not occupy a large amount of vehicle width with differentials.

I also made a joint for this vehicle which allowed both twist and turn, as
well as a drive shaft through the centre. The beauty was that it was quite
compact...

From that I started work on an independant suspension system which allowed
drive and steer, like in the 8880 but without specialised parts. One day I'll
get round to completing it. It is *nearly* there :-)

Thanks to a worm gear, the vehicle moves slowly but steadily. The fact that the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.build)
