Hi,
this is _my_ original picture:
http://festum.de/1000steine/myimages/99Diverses/7249big?full=1
I scanned the official 2005 german dealer catalog at 27-11-2004.
The crane pic is from the back side of the catalog.
In the middle of the catalog the crane was shown with box, but it was very bad
to scan. So I took the backside pic and added the Lego-Logo and the text from
the middleside pic.
I also scanned 59 more new sets, i.e. the new Technic Ferrari and the Ferrari
Truck. Browse through my folder to find some of them. All the pics you find of
them at brickshelf based on my scans. My private (not public!) directory on my
other web space was hacked by some people and images were linked to a lot of
sites which brought me about 5 GB traffic from 28-11-2004 to 5-12-2004 so I had
to take the pics off the net. Instead of the linked set pics you will find now
some little "stop" pics all over these bandwith thief sites like eurobricks and
other :-)
So the "small" 7249 crane seems to be the set which will be released in the
first half of 2005.

Maybe this is an alternative pic from the development of the 7249.
It would be very expensive. The "small" 7249 will cost about EUR 80,- (dealers
catalog) so the XXL7249 would cost more than twice I think.
On the other hand it would not be the first time, that pics in the dealers
catalogs don't show the sets in a form that will be released. It happened often
that TLC decided to change some models after the release of the catalog.
But normally not if they showed the set already with box.
You can try to make your own sence out of it by looking at this site:
http://www.lego.com/deu/info/?page=productsdetail&contentid=13170&langcode=de
which I just found by doing a search at the Lego site for "7249".
And if the Technik Crane will be released, too, this would be the third crane of
this year.
Best regards
Ronald

| (...) Yes it looks like (but I can't quite see how) it has a 3-section boom, which may be what the more powerful RC motor is being used for. (...) Well the 2 on this page (URL) both seem to indicate set number 7249, so I'm not sure whats going on (...) (20 years ago, 5-Jan-05, to lugnet.technic)
