  Re: 2001 Model

I agree. I am not sure who coined the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but as my old QC instructor use to say, "if it ain't broke, how do we make it BETTER!" That should be the goal of every Lego fan. After all, this is how we learn and (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

How about ideas for new elements?

The threads discussing what new mechanical functions and what new sets we would like in Technic has got me thinking about elements that are logical progressions of existing ones but that don't exist. I often find myself after a version of the 3/4 (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Micromotor slippage

Hello all, So, how much load has anyone successfully placed on a micromotor? I used a micromotor to steer 2 tandem axles in one of my model of a sideloading container truck (see olivierg.50megs.com/...eering.htm for details). When the truck was (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) I've tried making such a system, and unless lego comes out with high-friction pads, there is no way to clamp down a 4x4 pulley hard enough to notice any braking action. The ratio between 4x4 pulley and big wheel is too great, plus us humans (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: In Search of...

(...) Well, more than Anything I want to get more COmplete Amazons, I mean parts are nice, but the particualr colors and pieces in Jungle are perfect for my MOC(whats that mean anyway?) so f you can find them PLEASE let me know, and thnx (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic.slizer)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) The problem was that it took 3-4 shafts (I forget, since I have since dismantled it) to build one that worked (at least 3). The more separate shafts you have, along with end thrusts, the more power drawn off the motor. It worked, but was not (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

Some vehicles prototypically have brakes on (...) not quite true. One of the cars I drive on occasion has its brake on the dif (it has no transmission per se, just a chain and dif aft of the engine...its a replica of a 1903 Locomobile) I'm just (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

YES!!! Proper motorbike wheels! Spoked, if possible, and 80+mm diameter.... I definitely second the wish for Model Team motorbikes. See (URL) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) A Model Team race bike! Now that's a great idea! I think an UCS bike set with a considerable number of pieces would be even better. LEGO would probably need to create a new wheel for it - the wheels on the <set:8422> are not big enough for (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: 2001 Model

(...) I think those parts were new with the 1999 sets, but that year was when I came back to Technic (Throwbots of all things sucked me back in to Lego) so I can't confirm it. 8445 and 8446 both had one of those springs too, the former uses it to (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) I agree with your opinion. I love 8448 and I bought it because I had missed out on 8880. At the time too I didn't realize that Lego had done a gear box before and was absolutely enthralled by its construction. But even with 8448, for all its (...)   Re: Rare mask in Article

My status quo is Your list, because I think, all actual masks have been seen by You or at least xTIAN. But who knows? (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: 2001 Model

After "operating" my tow truck for a few minutes, I noticed a few similar limitations. My mods included: -adding a second pneumatic piston to raise/lower the lifting frame. -better steering (tighter turning radius). -stronger crane arm / motorized (...) Steve said... (...) I would suggest you've answered your own question, we who care about representing 'real' engineering in brick form would rather have a solution which is as close as possible to the real thing (this is why I am attempting to make (...)   Re: 2001 Model

(...) I checked this set out and thought it offered no new functionality, now it has to go on the list, damn. Can you confirm that these 'slow release springs' are new parts and the function of 'door closer' is new? I'll take a look at an 8448 this (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 2001 Model

(...) Spectacle lift! It took me a moment to get that :-) I built up my tow truck last week, and must confess to trying a similar range of experiments to yourself, with a similar mixed success rate. It would probably work quite well with more (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)
