RE: Cheap storage containers at Walmart

(...) I'd think Sterilite would be the imitation...? Anyway, when I went to Walmart, they were out of the $.98 Rubbermaid, so I bought 20 of the $.88 Sterilite 4.5qt containers. In this case, an extra qt wouldn't have helped much, so I saved by (...) (24 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Cheap storage containers at Walmart

(...) Yes, it looks like they finally tracked down the source of the lead in the Rubbermaid Engineering Department's water supply: the "Snaptopper" box looks suspiciously like a knockoff of the recent Sterilite offering, but it does seem to be (...) (24 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Cheap storage containers at Walmart

I picked up some Rubbermaid 5.7 qt (5.39 Liter) containers yesterday for $0.98 a piece. These clear plastic containers are 1.13'x8.5"x4.x" (34.5 cm x 21.6 cm x 10.6cm) I found them at the end of an aisle under a big "Back to School" sign. Store (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Cheap clear storage

(...) Thanks for the warning. It's probably worth the $.20 risk. (...) Many grocery stores have got these way-cool machines that you feed your bottles and cans into. They read the UPC barcode for all the containers, and spit out a refund slip that (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Cheap clear storage

(...) Oh, man, I forgot about that. Here, we have to go searching for some place that will take them. So I do not feel bad about cutting them up. I should warn you that this does not ALWAYS work. I had some where I had Sam's and Coke, and the (...) (24 years ago, 24-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Cheap clear storage

(...) Interesting idea. I may have to try this. My wife already thinks I'm crazy. (...) Hmm. I wonder if they'd fit in a wine rack... (...) Nothing? It's not nothing! Those things cost $0.10 *each*. In Michigan, anyway. Steve (24 years ago, 21-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Cheap clear storage

This is for the recycling set... If you have two liter pop bottles, and some of them are made by different companies, then it is a good bet that the bottles came from different factories...for example, Coca-Cola as opposed to Sam's Choce or Pepsi.   Re: Brick Storage

(...) I am currently in the last stages of reorganizing my (primarily) Technic collection. For the specialized Technic elements I am now using Zag Professional Organizers. These are cool in that they do not rely on dividers but instead have small (...) (24 years ago, 19-Aug-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.storage)

(...) If you're curious about types of sloped elements, check this out! :) (URL) [...] (...) I use Acro Mils storage containers and sort everything by shape. Some of the larger bins get split into multiple colors (like small plates and bricks). (...) (24 years ago, 18-Aug-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.storage)

  Re: LEGO Cargo System

Rob - Thank you - you've been quite helpful. I appreciate your time to follow up on this for me. I think my problem is that the eBags site doesn't welcome me as a eBates member. I don't see the welcome message on the first page, and there's no (...) (24 years ago, 7-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)

  Re: LEGO Cargo System

I linked to eBags from the eBates website. I can't remember if the $10 off/free shipping message was on the intro eBags page or if it was on an eBates page. The first eBags page said something like "Welcome eBates Member!". After I selected the bag (...) (24 years ago, 4-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)

  Re: LEGO Cargo System

Rob - I tried liking through eBates, where I have a valid account, and didn't get the $10 off you saw. Flamingoworld has a 25% off for VISA purchased at eBags, but their link doesn't work. I see other 10% offers from there and other sites, but not (...) (24 years ago, 4-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)

  Re: LEGO Cargo System

(...) Yes, I got a set .... At LIC/Orlando, I paid about $94 for the double set of rolling bag and backpack. I've used the rolling bag on a couple of business trips, and it has held up well - no cracks in the baseplate yet, and only a little rubbing (...)   Re: LEGO Cargo System

Here's a follow-up: I found the bags at eBags. If you link through ebates, you can get the rolling bag for $55 ($10 off), shipping included + 10% rebate from ebates!! Anyone know what the LIC Orlando price is?? -- -Rob. ===...=== New sets and parts (...) (24 years ago, 2-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)

  Re: A brick sorter?

I was wondering if someone built one that could sort all sizes. I wan't to dump in a box of legos and have them sorted by color. I think it's a good chalenge (...) (24 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

Re: My beautiful methods of storage

There is also the problem of whether you're continually rebuilding and unbuilding a model, to consider as well. If you're doing something like taking several hundred pieces apart in order to construct something totally different, then you're likely (...) (24 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.storage)

Re: My beautiful methods of storage

(...) Yeah, but if all your parts are built into models (as mine usually are) you don't need to store. I only break up models when I need the parts for another model, and then I use the left over peices to build something else. This leaves me with a (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.storage)

Re: My beautiful methods of storage

(...) I disagree. A good storage system can make finding the right pieces easier, and therefore makes building easier. Well, of course, some people do go a little far, i.e. this box has 2x4 white bricks, this one has 2x2 black bricks, etc. But color (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.storage)

Re: My beautiful methods of storage

I've figured out the ultimate storage solution- don't. Build instead. :-) Mike (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: A brick sorter?

(...) I recently made one which could sort white, gray and black 2x2 bricks into compatments. I did it more as an experiment than to serve any practicle purpose. I could probably get ti to work out the size of the bricks too, as I did have a motor (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.storage)
