Re: Sorting Bley and Chocolate Brown

(...) I agree with DkStone<->DkGray and RedBrown<->Brown cases. But I can't make a difference between MdStone and Gray without some serious staring. But I still have them mixed, because I have the parts sorted only by type, I don't have enough space (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Sorting Bley and Chocolate Brown

(...) I just toss them in with my other greys and browns. They are pretty easy to spot once I start building. -Elroy (20 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

  Sorting Bley and Chocolate Brown

Given that the bleys and chocolate brown are here to stay, what is the best way to sort them into a large collection, whilst still maintaining the ability to distinguish light bley from light grey? I currently sort by type, since up to now it has (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage, lugnet.color)

  Re: Ultimate Lego Transport/Storage Box

(...) This is really really cool news. Your storage-fu is impressive. I'll be bloggin' this on Zemi. Also, you should check out (URL) for another horrible storage website for a good storage line.   Ultimate Lego Transport/Storage Box

I've finally found it. (URL) Iris 15-gallon Wing Lid Storage Box, WL-60. I have found this only at Office Depot so far. Iris, a Japanese company, has a near-useless English-language Website[1], so I don't know where else it might be found. (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage, lugnet.space)

  LEGO-like tubs at WM

The other day I noticed a palette of tubs at a WalMart store. They looked like knockoffs of 3033/4400/etc tubs. The plastic was slightly different, but similar. The label said "RubberMaid RoughNeck 3-gal Container". Original retail was $2.88, but (...) (20 years ago, 17-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Brick Storage Showcase (and some padding to make lines wrap well)

(...) Figure $100 for Keter boxes, Shimano tackle boxes, and misc other tackle boxes. $50 for two Plano 1234s. Probably $120 for ten Stack-On 18-, 39-, or 60-drawer units. Around $150? for Gracious Living drawer units (each three-large-drawer or (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: A Monumental Task

(...) Well, it's one month gone by and the Lego is packed up and ready to be moved. It took close to 200 boxes and 5 66 quart Sterilite containers. All that's left is to bag up the instruction books and put them in a 66 quart Sterilite container. (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: the evolution of lego sorting

(...) I'm right with ya onboard the "I Hate Scratches" bandwagon. Over the years, I've always thought scratches were caused only by bricks against bricks. When I got the whole M:Tron™ collection for Xmas '90, I kept those trans-neon-green pieces in (...) (20 years ago, 15-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage, FTX)

Re: Plano 3700 & Sterilite 66 qt - other recommended combinations?

(...) I have a Plano fishing tackle box that holds three 3700s in a slideout fashion. Not real effective for mass storage though. I also have some plastic shelving that is tall enough for the 3700s to stand vertically like books which is how most of (...) (20 years ago, 14-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Plano 3700 & Sterilite 66 qt - other recommended combinations?

(...) Actually, Plano makes something like that - at Menards here in the midwest, you can sometimes find large red plastic boxes that hold three of the 3700's & two of the smaller 3450's (which incidently also come in two slightly different forms: (...)   Re: Plano 3700 & Sterilite 66 qt - other recommended combinations?

(...) I use the Plano 3700 (I've noticed that they use this model number for both the 24 and 48 compartment models - odd) boxes too and I have a couple of 58 qt. Sterilite bins. I've never tried putting one in the other, though. What I would like to (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Plano 3700 & Sterilite 66 qt - other recommended combinations?

Just a FYI, for those of us on the small end of the sort/store spectrum. I just discovered that 12 of the Plano 3700 boxes will stack very nicely in a Sterilite 66 qt storage bin. I can now get much (most? I said it was small) of my sorted (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Project Building and Sorting Table

(...) Matt Chiles ordered a case of the clear plastic mostly rectangular bins you often see packaged mushrooms in (I'm pretty sure I've seen other produce in them also). The bins are about 4"x5" or so (there are also larger bins). Another cheap (...) (20 years ago, 6-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Cleaned up the LEGO room

Good deal JT, we as long time fans have our work cut out for us. LOL, it 'builds' up. Pun intended, hrrr hrrr. I have spent the last 3 months sorting every day. I had a couple of sorting parties where friends came over and helped. I begged for help (...) (20 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

  Cleaned up the LEGO room

This weekend I finally got around to cleaning up my LEGO room, it has been such a disaster for the past few months and has made it hard to do any building. (URL) not a very large room and I have to share part of it with my wife's "scrap (...) (20 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

  My New LSF

On my last trip to Franklin, NC I did get around to actually measuring the bunk house on my girlfriends property. It is 20'x 11' with 10' ceiling. More than enough room for my entire collection and the building tables. The outside of the bunk house (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: Project Building and Sorting Table

(...) I use a couple different setups when sorting--primarily because I'm experimenting with stuff. For 2 bucks, I found a 4 pack of square gladware containers at Wal-Mart some time ago. Lar has seen them, and I recall he commented that he liked the (...) (20 years ago, 29-Dec-04, to lugnet.storage, FTX)

Re: Project Building and Sorting Table

(...) I've used the small square-ish foam takeout hinged lid containers used to hold sandwiches and such as an alternative to those tippy bowls. Just lay out the container flat to get two conjoined ~5" square sorting bins, or seperate them at the (...) (20 years ago, 29-Dec-04, to lugnet.storage, FTX)
