(...) Very good. I agree with Tim. I have in the past simplified my docking rings for the sake of lack of pieces because my ships are very big and I needed the pieces elsewhere. But I like the idea a lot. You can also do male versions of the floor (...) (23 years ago, 28-May-01, to lugnet.space)

It's simple and sweet, but as others pointed out it would be desireable to not have to worry about the "sex" of the rings. What if you replaced two of the corner "sockets" on the female wall port with "pins" from the male wall port. Make sure that (...) (23 years ago, 28-May-01, to lugnet.space)

Sorry. I shoulda' been more specific... The last two pics on the page have labels of 'Two "wall" doors docking' and 'The "wall" and "floor" doors docking' and they're swapped when you look at the photos. As for the pegs burning off... "You mean (...) (23 years ago, 29-May-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) Yes, exactly... that much mass means it would be too difficult to maneuver. It's a lot easier to have a shuttle go back & forth. Plus, it gives us more opportunity to play at docking & undocking, and we get to design the shuttles! :-) --Bill. (23 years ago, 29-May-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) Good point; I never thought of that. So all we are really going to be docking is the shuttles, *if* the ship doesn't have a hanger bay. But as argued before, shuttle docking rings will be small. Anyways, this way you get to design shuttles AND (...) (23 years ago, 29-May-01, to lugnet.space)
