LOL, I thought the same thing when I saw that episode. There they are
walking through walls but yet they are standing perfectly fine on the
floors. It amuses me.

Nuts to that! How the heck did they breathe? Presumably the out-of-phase
air would go right through them.

Youre not being imaginative enough. Do such phenomena have to work in an
overly simplistic way?
|
Its not a question of lack of imagination. Quite the opposite, in fact. Im
imagining the ramifications of the reality established by the plot (which is
what the writer of the story should presumably have done!)

I prefer the explanation, its sci-fi and we dont have the time or
inclination to fully explain here how it works when its all highly
speculative anyway. What a shame that some people dont make the cerebral
effort to try and explain to themselves how it might work, and instead just
dismiss what is often good entertainment.

Dont get me wrong--I still like well-executed science fiction, and I can
readily overlook minor glitches. I even enjoy brainstorming about post hoc
explanations of how apparent goofs arent really goofs (ask me about the
Terminators internal text display sometime!). But I dont like excusing the
writer/director for things that could easily have been addressed. Geordi could
have said thank goodness that the field generated by the gravity plating still
gives us a surface to stand on or somesuch technobabble. Just some indication
that the writers were conscious of what they were writing.
Dave!
