I have a sugestion for the uniforms of the defense personnel.  The link below
is a 'concept' picture of the ASSDF (Armstrong Space Station Defense Force).
the uniforms are not terribly uniform, but it is a start.  Slight unifrom
changes will be made to denote Specialist, Flight Officer, Tactical Officer,
and Command ranks.  No infantry or unskilled military personnel will be
onboard.  Only the best of the best of the best, as that idiot said in Men in
Black.

We should probly start thinking about a crew compliment here, as things are
beginning to take shape: who does what and how many of them there are, so
Randy and others can make the appropriate room in their modules. Plus, we
don't know how many escape pods to make, and how many each should hold.

Perhaps it would be best by having the designers speculate as to how many duty
stations and service techs their own module uses to get stuff done (don't
count sleeping quarters). As the results get posted here, I'll post them on
the Armstrong page, or you can just email me directly.

Just for example, mess hall personnel could include a small galley staff and
dishwasher/janitor. Other designers can certainly come up with something.

BTW, unless we're out in The Badlands, is it unreasonable to assume that in
any department there'll also be an intern/cadet learning the ropes?

Also, one more note: there are often 3 to 4 duty shifts on ships and at
stations, but during high alert situations, usually all crew are called to
stations.

I'm speculating that for the power core, the total compliment is about 12;
usually 3 on during a shift of 6 hours for 5 days under normal circumstances.
