(Movie) Mission to Mars —Duane Hess
This is somewhat off-topic for this group, but it is space related. I went to see Mission to Mars last night and found it to be one of the worst movies I've seen in a LONG time. The story line was generic and predictable. The dialogue was cheesy. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) Pity it looked really cool. (...) Now I thought that was a good (definately not the greatest, but a good) moive. hmmm... (...) Well it is a movie. (...) I hate when the story contradicts itself like that. Newer Star Trek does that all the (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Gene C. Weissinger
Wow. If you disliked this movie for some of the reasons you listed - then why do you go see anything on the bid screen that is SciFi? They all seem to have these 'type' problems. The movie is actually pretty decent in my opinion... EC (25 years ago, 12-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Duane Hess
(...) It was more a combination of the reasons that I stated. I can overlook many small things in a movie, because a person has to suspend reality in many aspects to truly enjoy many sci-fi movies. I enjoy sci-fi, even a lot of the cheesy "B" (...)         Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Edward Halonen
(...) Hmm... I kinda expected this exact outcome, from the very first preview. It just gave off plain old bad vibe's. But what really got to me was NASA's role in the movie. NASA, in my eye's, is a very sad sight indeed. NASA's plight to propel (...) (25 years ago, 13-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Scott Edward Sanburn
Well, I saw the movie on Friday as well, and it was really bad. I saw the young actor, who was in sliders, on Fox news Thursday, after my surgery, and he said it was endorsed by NASA, and there wasn't any silly sci-fi stuff in it. Last time I (...) Someone made a significant decision in the race to get to the moon when they chose the system of orbiting earth/trans lunar injection and lunar orbit etc. Basically, after the War, Werner Von-Braun had a fantastic single-use rocket which could (...)          Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —John J. Ladasky, Jr.

Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Scott Edward Sanburn
(...) Hmm... I liked Armageddon, you knew that was fake, I think Mission to Mars (MTM?) just tried to combine reality with fiction too much, and it ended up being a really unenjoyable movie. Scott S. ___...___ Scott E. Sanburn-> (...) (25 years ago, 13-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Matthew Wilkins
I saw it with two friends (who happen to be professional [and _published_] Sci- Fi writers), and we ragged on the movie the entire way through. (We saw it at a local brew/bar-theatre, so that didn't help any.) Most of the people around us were (...) (25 years ago, 13-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: (Movie) Mission to Mars —Mark Sandlin
Unfortunately, this one is just SAD. NASA allowed their name to be spread all over it, but the ignorance in the face of basic physics was pathetic. I can't believe NASA let them do this... they must be pretty hard up for the cash. ~Mark (...) (25 years ago, 14-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)
