| | RIS parts questions
| I have a RIS 2.0 Other than changes to the RCX brick, software, documentation/manuals/etc & IR tower, what parts would I need to obtain to have the equivilant of a RIS 1.5? What about a 1.0? (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

MindScript syntax highlighting, improved error reporting (over that provided by ScriptEd) and Spybot support (one talking to the RCX via the USB tower and the other talking to the Spybot via COM1) is even cooler. :-) In case anyone else would (...) | | Re: RIS 2.0 or 1.5 (minimum requirements)
| I'd suggest not worrying about your system being underpowered. If you've ever programmed before you'll probably want to drop the Lego GUI development environment ASAP and switch to something more powerfull. A first step is to try out NQC which your (...) | | Re: RCX <-> PC communication
| (...) Lawrie Griffiths asked me to forward the following to you: RCXPort should be about twice as fast as RCXF7Port. Do you have a serial or USB tower? I am concerned that you don't get complete reliabilty with RCXPort - I do with a USB Tower. (22 years ago, 14-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

| | Re: RCX Serial Hardware Hack
| (...) The carrier should be quiet in any case, because it disturbs the TX signal. (...) We tried this,but it didn't work. Why, because the transistor will drain some current, if the emitter has positive voltage and the base goes low. If the carrier (...) (16 years ago, 24-May-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| | LegOS, lnpd, and networking
| It seems to me that a lot of the discussion lately has been on networking multiple IR (infrared) clients using legOS. Is the IR tower using an ID? This would identify messages from the IR vs an RCX. Also could the addressing be extended to allow IP (...) (22 years ago, 21-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| | Re: RCX <-> PC communication

| (...) Kaspar, There is a bug with serial towers with RCXPort in lejos 2.0. This causes the problem you are seeing. There is a fixed version in (URL) fixes RCXPort, but I haven't put the fix in the LNP versions yet. I only have a USB Tower, and (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

| | Re: Interactive communication with the RCX
| I don't think collision detection will be possible since the hardware/firmware does a checksum (at least in lego firmware), and no message is provided to the VM software (LASM), this prevents ACK/NAK protocols working. The Message() function does (...) (22 years ago, 24-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| Hello, When I do a uname command, I get CYGWIN_98-4.10. It definitely appears that makefile.common has some problems with paths, etc. When I type the command: strip fontdesign.exe dll.exe makelx.exe fixdeps.exe genlds.exe firmdl3.exe as I mentioned (...) | I'm trying to use "TOWERAPI.DLL" to directly setup the USB tower drivers in a Windows C++ program using Microsoft's Visual Studio. Lego's documentation refers to linking with "TOWERAPI.LIB" but this file is not in the SDK 2.0 release. In an earlier (...) (22 years ago, 2-Nov-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| How do I connect USB to the IR of a 1.x RIS RCX? What hardware should I buy, from whom? Currently I'm reaching the RCX via IR via serial from a PC.
