It seems to me that a lot of the discussion lately has been on networking
multiple IR (infrared) clients using legOS.

Is the IR tower using an ID?

This would identify messages from the IR vs an RCX.

Also could the addressing be extended to allow IP addresses to be assigned to
each RCX or IR tower after the information has been retrieved by the computer?

This would allow access to individual RCXes or towers remotely by IP address.
The hosting computer could serve up the IP addresses for each robot through
a nameserver.  It could also act as a router/firewall.  This could make for
interesting remote controlled apps not to mention distributed processing.

Just a thought,
Frank

P.S. Don't you think 16 unique IDs is a bit low?  Who knows how RCXs someone
will want to control. : )
