| I just gave my son ROBOLAB (2.5, with USB tower, in the Team Challenge set) and can't get it to run on our Power Macintosh G3 running Mac OS 9.2.1. | Hello Up until yesterday my nephew has been using the Xircom USB to Serial adapter on an iMac (Blueberry 350 ) with MPW NQC quite successfully. | (...) Your correct, it isn't that. I know all about -Susb, because I'm using a serial and a usb tower simultaneously with respective rcx's. One sets in a box so their is no IR crossover. I have swapped over the towers. The USB worked perfectly in (...) (19 years ago, 21-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| Hi there, I donwloaded, compiled and used legOS 2.4 which worked all very fine. But since then, I cannot use the serial port anymore that I connected the IR-tower to. | Matt, I discovered that the IR LED's and detector on my serial tower was located higher than I expected and pointed upward somewhat. | The 2.0 firmware is available separately from LEGO as part of the 2.0 SDK. You can use this firmware with a 1.5 set (or even a 1.0 set). | I have an iBook. I know about NQC and decided to give it a try. I thought "hey, it works for mac! Great! I can install it on my iBook, run it, and then I can program my robots on my iBook! | (...) It sounds like firmware download is aborting when trying to shift from normal to fast speed. Fast firmware download with the USB tower has always been a bit touchy.
