  Re: trouble with memory

well, the dim flashing of either yellow charge LEDs should not worry you. all this means is that the Handy Board is drawing some power. if you have the wall adapter plugged into the Interface/Charger board, simply switch it to "Zap" mode. now, onto (...)   trouble with memory

Dear Fred Martin, I'm in deep deeeep trouble! A few weeks ago I first read about your handyboard and was very excited about it, because I was looking for a controller board for my autonomous vacuum cleaner. So I ordered the PCB from Douglas (...) (27 years ago, 11-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  email change

I know this probably isnt the right place to do this, but could you please change my email address from mdowney@eng.ua.edu to mdowney@dbtech.net Thanks....Sorry for the intrusion. Carry on! :) (27 years ago, 9-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  (no subject)

EAS is now taking orders for the Finger Board, a very small 68hc11 micro controller board with memory and I/O selects compatible to "Handy Board". You can easily design custom interface circuitry for it by using standard prototype boards. It runs (...) (27 years ago, 9-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Spectra sonar pin outs

Here is the pin outs that you requested Randy. The board that you are talking about has a 17 pin SIP connector. What I did is remove this connector and solder a ribbon wire to the following pins: Signal Pin # (pin 17 and pin 1 should be labeled) GND (...) what is your OS. If you are using Win31/Win95, try HBDL.EXE instead of DL. fred In your message you said: (...) (27 years ago, 9-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Expected 141, Received 91, After 60 chars received

I am assembling a Handy Board and I am getting the above error when I try to download the pcode_hb.s19 using dl (dl pcode_hb.s19 -port com1). I have just finished assembling section 6.0.4. Everything seems to have been working up to this point. I (...) (27 years ago, 9-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Recycled Sonar units

fyi The bad news: I did the same thing only to realize that the sonar unit in the Spectra uses a custom IC to control the transducer. The receive or analog IC is the same as the commercial ones. I did find out the pin outs to the connector but (...) (27 years ago, 9-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: High current speed controllers

Whoops, the url for my H-bridge design should be: (URL) previous version was missing the 'robotics' in the middle. Thanks to Mike for pointing that out. --Chuck (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: tracking an IR beacon

If you want to get into _all_ the details of tracking you might see if the local library has a copy of "Tracking Multiple Targets with Examples from RADAR" published by ArTech House. This book is crammed with densely worded (and annotated with math) (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: High current speed controllers

As for your question about controlling a motor with a PWM signal versus an analog level controlled by a power transistor, the issue is efficiency and power dissipation. If you use a power transistor to set the voltage at the motor, it will have to (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: High current speed controllers

I designed a high-current H-bridge to use with my Handyboard (the specs are at (URL) heat sinks on the MOSFETs the bridge can control 50A. (You can substitute fets to get more power). The known problems with this design so far are that the power to (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Recycled Sonar units

Anyone using the motor powewr header J13 ????

Hi all, for designing reasons I wonder if anyone is using the Motor Power Header J13. Would anyone be pleased if we added an extra power connector to our expansionboard to supply J13 with more power ??? Thanks..... Tom (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  New Expansionboard

Hi all We at the TWI (School of engineering, www.twi.ch) in Switzerland are using the Handyboard for several projects. One of them is a model car with ultrasonic sensors and model servos. Because of some limitations of the Handyboard we have built a (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: High current speed controllers

Thomas, We are using the HB to control an AstroFligt 50A controller. The controller comes standard with a 20K pot to vary the PWM signal. What I did as substitute the 20K pot with a DallasSimi DS1803 pot. Its a 14 (I think) dip package that uses I2C (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
