I'm currently assemblying a handyboard and came across some literature for Motorola's 68HC12 microcontroller. The one thing that attracted me to it is its built in memory-mapping capabilities. I think i am still having trouble with the memory on my home brewed rug warrior board. I am using a 68hc11a1fn chip. I am trying to wire up a rug warrior board, and i think i have thecomputational hardware all set up correctly. I have been over my wiring as best as i can and cant fina a problem. I've tried the enable_cheesy_encoders and it doesn't seem to work for me either. What I get is 0 for the portX_shaft_count all the time. Is this what you're getting? I need help on understanding the motor controller circuit. Looking at the source in the lib_hb librariy it looks like different pulse trains are sent out to increase the average output voltage by poking increasing values of 256 into the rught (...) James, Thanks for following up. The reason for this behavior should be fairly evident -- there are traces very close to the mounting screw holes. Your metal washers must have shorted them together, affecting wires to the memory. I do mention to use (...) (27 years ago, 11-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

I've discovered the problem. When I mounted the Handyboard, I used metal standoffs. When the board is mounted, it doesn't work. When it isn't, it does. The solution then I guess is to use nylon washers to isolate the Handyboard from the standoffs. (...) (27 years ago, 11-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Hello, I attached a Radio Shack IR emittter / detector to the handyboard to cure my touch sensor faults I'm using the Legobug. I'm trying to load a short ICB file (compiled using Newton Labs web server). Everytime I try loading it (I am stripping the CR in the file), I get a: Loading timer2a.icb. I have been using the Handyboard successfully for over 6 months. Recently I've decided to mount it on my robot base. After all the dust settled last night, I powered up the Handyboard. Hi my handyboard works fine, but i have a big problem with my motors. If i use the "FD(x)" command my motor runs very well. The rocker-bogie suspension is self-evident, but of course it works best if the wheel and motor sit out at the ends of the suspension. That means six motors. (...) I haven't (...) just attack it with legos.... once you figure it out with legos, it's pretty easy... having looked at it my self... i would assume that only one of the wheels (per side) or all are driven, but the suspension system is very simplistic... infact, i (...) Having seen pictures of the Mars rover I am intrigued as to the mechanics of it. Does anyone know of where to get any details of such things as drive system and suspension.
