  IR relectance Sensors

Where is a good place to get IR relectance sensors? Also, I'm having a little trouble comprehending some specs. What is the "sensing distance". For example, (in the Mouser CAtalog) the sensing distance of as Omron optical sensor with built in (...) (28 years ago, 8-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Headers

I can't seem to find the male and female headers in the Digikey catalog. Is the No. in the HB Tech Ref (929974-01-36-ND and 929834-01-36-ND) the Digikey Part No.? Perhaps someone can tell me a description. Is it English or Metric? Thanks. (28 years ago, 7-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  New Handy board question

Hi! Our board is fixed, thanks for your advice David. It was actually the circuit board holder vice that we were using to hold the board while soldering. It was made of metal and shorting power to ground. . . Our second board has a problem now, this (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: (Handy-B) wrong connection...

(...) any normal cmos low power 28-pin (JEDEC standard) 32K RAM will work. You do not need a special battery backed variety. you also might have blown the 'hc373 chip, since that is part of the memory circuit. also check the 'hc132. hopefully the (...)   successful downloading

Greetings, Thanks to all who replied. I downloaded dlm.exe and a new copy of pcode and it worked with the -256 option. The old version of dlm which I had did not recognize the -256 option, and I think that was the root of the problem. Onward..... (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Reflectance sensor hook up??

I was looking on the Handy Board web page instructions on howw to wire sensors and motors to the HB. I thought that the two smaller ends went to ground and the longer transmitter side with a 330ohm resistor went to the 5v port and the longer recever (...)   (Handy-B) wrong connection...

Hello, I made a terrible mistake. By mistake I connected the pos. side of the powerheader (10 V) to the middle row of the digital ports (Vccc ; 5 V , (if I'm not mistaking)). With this action I probably blew up (a) component(s) on my handyboard. I (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  memory fault

I was working with IR detectors this morning when this happened.... one detector was connected to the special detector port provided in the handy board. There was a second one connected to the first digital port. They were working fine and i was (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Handyboard testing

Have just got to the testing stage this lunch time and have a few problems. 1) When testing the motor ports the LEDs light up in the sequence M0 green - M0 red - M1 red - M1 green - M2 green - M2 red - M3 red - M3 green. This differs from the (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  handyboard stuff

I,ve just received my Handyboard pcbs from Douglas Electronics and they were very quick in getting them over to me in the UK. I,ve just about got them chiped up and will be testing today. Books: In looking around for relevant books on the 68HC11 I (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Blown Board!

Hello! Boy do I feel silly! I'm captain of a robotics team here at Washington University and I ran into a problem tonight while soldering up my board. We've been building the board from the kit and all has been well until now. My assistant and I (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: more downloading

Hi Dave, can you try the DLM.EXE (not hbdl) program off the software resources web page? you will have to use the "-256" flag because it defaults to -512 for the e1 version of the 6811 which is probably not what you have. also, if you have windows (...)   Re: Polyswitch Fuse

Not a real systematic one -- that seemed to be enough to let motors blast away, but stop real damage from happening if the nicad pack got shorted out. remember, shorting nicads is a real hazard - 50 to 100 amps -- could almost start a car. -fred (...)   more downloading

Hi everyone, I posted a message a day or two ago about a downloading problem I am having with my HB. I have gotten my hands on a copy of hbdl.exe and it too fails to download pcode_hb.s19. I believe that I am following all instructions properly. (...) (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Polyswitch Fuse

I looked up the part in DigiKey Catalog. Is there a reason for choosing a fuse rated at 2.5A with a trip of 5.0A? (28 years ago, 6-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  infrared communication

Hello, I'm trying to find information on how to implement infrared communication between my PC and my RugWarrior (a 68HC11 board). I want is to use the serial interface of the board (another port would be fine btw), which is normally connected via a (...) (28 years ago, 5-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  baud rates

Hi all, I have a question concerning baud rates and the SCI port. I looked in one of the pink books and found the maximum baud rate it shows is 131.072k baud. I need it to be 250k baud. I also noticed that the baud rate is dependant on the crystal (...) (28 years ago, 5-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: SPI code

(...) Just to be clear: the code I have promised is 1200 asynchronous serial output from the HB (from a pin other than its built-in RS-232 out :-), *not* SPI code. Mike is correct in stating the place for info is the 6811 "pink book." See the HB (...) (28 years ago, 5-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) Isn't that what the SPI is for? Set one up as master, and all others as slaves. Look in the 'pink' book.
