I,ve just received my Handyboard pcbs from Douglas Electronics and they
were very quick in getting them over to me in the UK. I,ve just about
got them chiped up and will be testing today.

Books:
In looking around for relevant books on the 68HC11 I found this one
which has a good practical slant (i.e plenty of code examples):

Microcontroller Technology - The 68HC11  by Peter Spasov  (second
edition)
Published by Prentice Hall    ISBN 0-130362724-1

Covers fundamentals of microcontrollers then detail of the 68HC11.
Mentions the Microboard. Has examples of the IC compiler code. Also bits
about fuzzy logic (mentions of Motorolas freeware for fuzzy logic)  real
time executives an internet links for relevant stuff. I've not read it
all yet but it seems a good practical relevant book. Priced in the UK at
25 pounds (about 40-45 dollars). Hardback edition.

If anyone is considering using the KVH C-100 fluxgate compass and don't
want to take up the serial interface on the HB it has a digital clocked
output of the heading data as well as a 'pseudo' RS232 output( 0 to 5
volts). Two digital lines are used, one for data and one for the clock.
Runs at 10kHz though so probably some machine code drivers need doing.
Won't give you the control that the RS232 port does though. Maybe Fred's
new async drivers could be used for this.

And finally has there been any code written for stepper motor drivers
for the HB?. I,ve not found any references for this. I want to use
steppers from old 5 1/4 disc drives which are fairly small and economic
on current -75 ohms per coil.

Cheers for now

Steve
