  Re: sonar (fwd)

(...) My 20 years of navy sonar help me somewhat with active/passive transducers and things in the kilowatt range... :-) but I'm a rank newbie to most of the sonar talked about here. Sounds like Piezo would be very cheap. True? I bought two (...) (28 years ago, 23-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: sonar (fwd)

(...) This is true of the POLAROID Ultrasonic Sensor module, but not necessarily true of all Ultrasonic Sensor modules. It depends on the type of Ultrasonic Transducer the circuit uses. The one I built uses a Piezo-Electric transducer available (...) (28 years ago, 23-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Reflectance sensor

You can use either. The 180 ohm resistor will make the output LED brighter, which is generally better, unless you make it so bright as to reduce its lifespan. -Fred ---...--- (...) (28 years ago, 22-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Reflectance sensor

Hi, I'm a little confused. On the Handy Board web page it says to use a 330 ohm resistor, but a coleuge of mine said to use a 180 ohm rest.. Please help. Could it be because I have a different brand of sensor than the one in the diagram??? Thanks in (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Voltage regulator gets hot when steering servo

Hi, I'm working on a project in which I use the handy-board to steer a servo. I noticed that the voltage regulator on my handy-board gets rather hot. You actually burn your fingers on it... So I wondered how much current I can draw from it, without (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Polaroid & Handyboard

Okay...I hooked up a Polaroid Rannging board to the Handyboard. And something about the supply prevents the echo from being properly detected. Hi Scott, (...) Since everything's CMOS, there's no trouble with static loading (CMOS inputs require essentially zero current in static operation).   Interface/charge board problem>>part II :)

Hello again, After several fustrating hours of checking all solder connections, cables, and all that other stuff. I finaly think that my problem is in the MAX232 chip on the charger board.   HandyBoard Expansion.....

Hi I'm roughing out a design to add some more(*) IO to my handyboard and have run into a slight problem.... I'm going to have another 4 devices on the data bus, 2 x 74HC574 & 2 x 74HC541.   RE: IR communication (fwd)

There will be a lot of IR radiation bouncing around and that can be problematic. Another IR detection technique is to use a camcorder, they are sensitive to IR light.   Battery Care
