I'm 28, been playing with legos since before I can remember.  I started out
with classic space, something like the Galaxy explorer and a few others.  The
first "Technic" set I can remember well was the expert builder car chassis.  I
guess that would have been the first "super car"  My dad and I built it
together, I think he thought it was cooler than I did.  I remember him proudly
showing it off, with it's ability to shift gears and everything.  That seemed
to cement my love for legos.  I got  expert builder sets for my next few
birthdays and Christmas'.  My tastes moved on to Radio controlled cars and
planes, and I forgot about my legos.  Most of them came to an untimely end when
my two younger brothers had fun blowing them up, the rest were given to good
will.  : (  Hopefully I will be getting the RIS for Christmas this year.  It's
really the only thing I have asked for, so I am rather confident I will get
it.  I noticed a lego collection in the paper the other day, so I snagged it.
It was a 2x2x2 foot u-haul box 3/4 full of legos.  They wanted  $50.00.  It was
hard to hide my delight from the person I was buying it from.  I imagine there
are over 10000 pieces in there.  Not much technic, but TONS of black bricks
that should be wonderful for my robots.  I strongly believe that Lego set me on
the path that has been my career.  Mainly electro-mechanical repair work.
Although I have no Pinball machines of my own I had an interview with a local
chain of arcades yesterday.  They are giving me an offer tomorrow, so quite
possibly Lego will have led me to a job where I will be repairing pinball
machines on a regular basis.  A strange connection between Lego and pinball
must exist.

  How old are you?

I was just wondering how old most of the members in this forum are? I suspect most people active in Robotics as a hobby aren't children. I'm just about to turn 36, but I was dreaming about Lego Robots since I was 8. MG (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)
