To connect the motor to the switch, use a piston arrangement (like a car
engine). This can be done quite compactly. A single touch/light sensor and
medium pulley wheel can be used to count motor revolutions (to determine
when you've gone from one position to the next)
... Now, attach a second piston arrangement at 90 degrees to the first.
Then you get the following four combinations:
"position" switch 1 switch 2
90 deg off forward
180 deg forward off
270 deg off backward
360 deg backward off
The only drawback is that one (*and only one!*) of your two pneumatic
cyclinders will be "active" at any given time ... but that is possibly not
a problem?
With one motor you're not only restricted to cycling one way (ie you can
get from any switch 1 position to any switch 2 position with one movement)
Alternatively, if you can accept cycling, then use a diff. to use motor
forward and reverse separately - hey presto: one motor can control 4
pneumatic switches :-)
I've tested the switching side of this (ie without the touch sensors) and
it definitely can be done in a reasonably compact way. No pictures though
- sorry :-(
