    Re: Programming RCX? —William Ng
Thank all for the comments!! i've been to all the sites you guys provided, and i think i will start with RCXcc, coz i am a beginner in MS, i think it is sufficient at this moment. also, i think i need to spend more time on the mechanic part too!!         Re: Programming RCX? —Joel Shafer
(...) I second that. I've had my RIS kit all year and have spend 90% of my time trying to come up with good mechanical designs that are compact, good looking, and don't fall apart. Before I bought the RIS, I thought of myself as being mechanically (...) (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: Programming RCX? —Dennis Clark
(...) I just got that model myself. I'm one hour into the construction and happily anticipating the next 6 hours that will be needed to finish it! Now I'm looking at the tow truck and saying, "hmmm". Expensive, but man are they cool! have fun! DLC (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Tow Truck & pneumatics —Joel Shafer
(...) Cool, let us know if you get it. It would be interesting to know what nifty parts it has. I had a tough time deciding between the front end loader and the tow truck.         Re: Tow Truck & pneumatics —Stephan B. Wessels
(...) A solution that I have used, although not what you asked for, is to purchase the extra motor kit (pretty inexpensive) and use that motor and the dedicated power box to make a stand alone compressor station. Heck, if the extra weight is an (...) (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        pneumatic switch control —Joel Shafer
(...) I've been thinking about this a lot... What about using a differential to separate motor direction output.         Re: pneumatic switch control —Dennis Clark
(...) Rather than that, how about triggering one switch automatically at the end of travel of the other? For instance, you won't dump your bucket on the front end loader until it is a max height. Have the motor control the lift are with a sensor (...) (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: pneumatic switch control —S. Crawshaw

Pics of 1999 Mindstorms items —S. Crawshaw
The press room at www.legomindstorms.com has some new pictures of the two new kits due out this year. From these pictures, it's clear that the "Scout" unit - in the Robotics Discovery Kit - is very similar to the RCX; it has only 2 inputs, and (...) (26 years ago, 24-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Reading sensors at equal intervals. —S. Crawshaw
Is it possible (with the standard firmware) to read the RCX sensors (actually, ideally, to run any old subroutine) at equal intervals, ie like every 100ms or something? (I assume it must be, otherwise you couldn't measure speed with the angle (...) (26 years ago, 24-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Reading sensors at equal intervals. —Kekoa Proudfoot

Re: Reading sensors at equal intervals. —Dennis Clark

Re: Reading sensors at equal intervals. —Kekoa Proudfoot
(...) You are right, the timer values as seen by the firmware are in 1/10ths of a second. I lost myself in H8-land, which has a 1 ms timer that gets divided down before being seen by the firmware. -Kekoa (26 years ago, 25-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)
