Thanks to everyone for the responses. I feel a little better about actually
using the port now. I was concerned because of the speculation a while back
regarding why the port was removed, and I have no intention of burning out
the unit.

| Your comment intrigued me into checking. I grabbed a couple of transformers and checked them (with a 4 1/2 digit true rms meter). Off load (open circuit) one reads 10.4v a/c, the other 10.9v a/c. That is well within Lego's 9 - 12v a/c spec. JB (...) (22 years ago, 31-Aug-02, to lugnet.robotics)
