The MicroScout (MS) is far from a "piece of junk" considering the fact that you can get the DDK for $40 (I might modify my opinion if the price jumped much higher than this). (...) How about the "protection function" on ME? A friend of mine tried to set his keyboard layout in autoexec.bat, but every time he rebooted, ME put back the original autoexec.bat. Gus, Bob, Mario, and all, Yes, I was able to edit the C:\autoexec.bat with the line: SET NQC_OPTIONS=-TRCX2 I did not put in the second line SET PATH=c:\dev\lego\nqc;%PATH% because (a) I was not sure where to type it, and (b) I do not think I need (...) Hi Alan, Try sysedit like Robert Fay suggested. But I think that you will need to make sure RCX2 is all uppercase. In otherwords, add the line: SET NQC_OPTIONS=-TRCX2 The other line that I have in my autoexec.bat that is related to NQC is: SET (...) (24 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

I am responding to both Mario and Gus in this one post. I am trying to update my RCXcc so it can use the newer versions of NQC and RCX2 under Windows ME. Mario writes (...) must (...) (...) No. The Microscout doesn't have an IR detector. The microscout really is a piece of junk. The business of having the motor inside the computer makes it hard to build into things, the pre-built programs are not at all well thought out (where is (...) I have just started to try this - is it ever cool. I notice that the Brick options are RCX, Scout and MicroScout - Does this mean that I can program the MicroScout using the RIS Tower ? - If so, do I use LASM ? - I assume that I put it in P-mode ... See (URL) for a 3-input design (which I tried to build and made it look very nice--but I was remembering the values from memory.
