I just got my 1st rotational sensor and have a quick question for you all. I have the following gearing on my robot. Point A gears 8 <--> 40 8 <--> 40 Point B so this is: (5:1) x (5:1) = (25:1) Right? Now if I put my rotational sensor at Point A, do (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

"What's new": 1) I'm still waiting for my RIS 1.0 (hopefully +2 weeks) + Update to 1.5 so, everything I do still uses the Out<->In of a CyberMaster, comunicating with itself (the poor thing). 2) I ordered also a Dark Side MicroScout, for VLL output (...) I know this isn't scientific or anything but this is what I have observed. If I have a bot with a "crazy" wheel, the direction that that wheel is pointing when the bot starts moving forward controls the bots direction more than anything else. And it (...) (...) I guess - but surely - having an asymmetry in the robot's construction is more likely to cause it not to drive straight than the 1% to 2% due to the motor rotation direction. You may be a 'better' builder than I am - and perhaps be able to (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Yeah, I saw that. nice work, that. I figured I'd throw it in anyway on the principle that eliminating error of any source is always a noble cause. I like to use worm drives to 'turn the corner' anyway to get the extra torque so it's not a (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Well, if you read my *long* post from a week or so ago, you'll know that motor mismatch makes up at least 11% of performance, motor direction perhaps 1% or at most 2%, and HOW YOU BUILD YOUR MODEL accounts for at least 7% ... even when you are (...) (...) No - I'm a Linux user and *none* of the software on the CD would work for me anyway. You don't need spirit.ocx for NQC programming. Download the firmware file from Lego's web site - that (and NQC which isn't on the CD anyway) is all you need (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Does anyone have a part-by-part listing of the differences between RIS1.0 and RIS1.5? I am under the impression, for example, that there is a white clutch-type gear intended to permit a motor to continue turning if the drive train/robot becomes (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Walmart.com has them (although I'm not sure what version), I ordered one yesterday. When I went to check on availability (put an item in your shopping cart, then in the quantity box put a large number like say 1000. If they have less than that they (...)
