  Real Basic or applescript tools.

Hello, I have a project were I want to send messages to my RCXs' I would like to use applescript or real basic as I want to be able to have the RCX to be controllable from other non Lego related apps. I did some digging and there is an Applescript (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Oh. I sort of figured that you took the stuff out of the mouse (i just went back and read all the messages ;), it just that I have an optical mouse and i wouldn't want to take it apart. if the rcx could read the outputs from the mouse directly, then (...) I just got a usb or ps/2 optical mouse (with a wheel!) for $20 at compusa. I'm not sure who is trying to get an optical mouse to work with the Rcx, but i'd like any information on it that they have. Doing a little research, I found out that, when (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Recipricating motion problems

I have two 24 tooth gears. The lower gear is one hole down, six holes over from the upper gear. Like so (the @ are where the center of the gears are): @ @***** ^1 2^ I need to make it so that by turning gear 1 continusaly, in only one direction, (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Navigation by sound?

Hi, has anybody tried a setup like this: - The tower sends a message to the RCX. - The RCX beeps. - The beep sound is captured by two microphones on two neighbouring corners of the navigation space. - Their signal is fed into a stereo soundcard. - (...)   mindstorms/robolab in uk schools

hi - (especially if there are any uk teachers susbrcibed to this group....) i was wondering if anyone had any idea of what sort of penetration lego has achieved into schools with its rcx bricks via mindstorms/robolab kits, and the extent to (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Hi there

Depending on your lego skills, it would be better to follow a few simpler designs at first, building the bot is only about half the battle the other half is getting the code to make it do what you want. You need experience with sensors, motors, how (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Mindstorms book

I bought the O’reilly book and it has a lot of helpful information in it, especially about sensors, he likes forth as a language ( I gave up on that one about 15 years ago, because of lack of documentation) but does do quite a little with NQC, I (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: 2 motors, different speeds

You can put rotation sensors on each wheel, and then monitor them for changes. If one gets ahead of another, then slow that motor down. This works well, but differences in the wheels cause it to turn slightly. Andy (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Ball-less mice (was :Re: FW: Another DIY sensor)

(...) I can confirm this, at least for the US market; I just bought the Logitech optical wheel mouse, and it was $30 at Fry's in Campbell, California. (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Lego Mindstorms Europe Demo Tour

Hi all, (...) no problem with that. BUT ! We took part at the Lego VisionCommand 2000 Competition in Germany. We build an synchrodrive without lego turntables.   Re: 2 motors, different speeds

(...) Yes I think you're expecting too much. :) Two "identical" motors will go at a *similar* speed if set to the same power level, but chances of them going at the *same* speed is highly unlikely. Bryan (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  2 motors, different speeds

I have two motors set to the same power levels, but one is always going slightly faster than the other. I've tried it at different power levels but still the same result. Am I expecting too much for them to go at the exact same speeds? Or am I (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Ball-less mice (was :Re: FW: Another DIY sensor)

The optical mice that do not require a special tablet to operate all use the same sensor, made by Agilent (formaly HP). It is the HDNS2000. The spec can be found here: (URL) this thing has 2 types of output: - PS/2 (connects directly to a PC) (used (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)
