Hello all, I've nearly completed my shrimp rover implementation. Development is on pause being I’ve completely run out of short Lego wires. The Trinity College Fire-fighting Home Robots Contest is celebrated in the current issue of Dr. Dobbs' Journal (April 2002) in Ed Nisley's Embedded Space column (he's part of the event.) I remember seeing a web site which described how to convert a serial IR tower to a USB one. Lego Dacta sells a usb IR tower. You can also get one if you purchase Mindstorms 2.0 set. Mindstorms 2.0 software upgrade is available from Lego (or was when I bought mine). You will have to have the software upgrade to make the usb IR tower work. (...) (23 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I guess I should check the documentation on sourceforge as well, but I would like to know: What are the design goals for legOS at this point. (...) Actually, gcc 3.0.3-1 is available for the Hitachi. I'm running gcc with the new 2.12 binutils on my SuSE Linux machine without a flaw. I'm interested in helping out with legOS as well. So here's a brief write up of my applicable qualifications. ~7 years of C/C++ programming ~3 years of embeded C programming ~5 years of distributed programming (CORBA, RPC, RMI, homegrown stuff) (...)
