Re: Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms

(...) I'll second Ed's comment. This is a fantastic book. The sort of details Mario and Giulio include in the early chapters about the Mechanical Engineering aspects of building robots is great. I love it! Of the Mindstorm books I have so far (...) (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Pneumatic pump and switch version 2

(...) To have a pressure sensor would be very nice. You could have multiple of the pumps & switches (using a single air tank). Depending on the pressure the RCX can control the time that is needed to recover pressure. And whenever you need some (...) (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, The question I have (no offence to the authors), but is this book worth it? I currently have: Definitive Guide to Lego Mindstorms Extreme Mindstorms Unofficial Guide to Lego Mindstorms Here in (...) (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms

(...) Hi John, you can buy it directly from Syngress. Just follow this link: (URL) book is available at $19.95 plus shipping, and you'll also be able to download an electronic version of the book itself. Ciao Giulio (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: accu pack with rcx

(...) Yes, add up the voltage of fresh alkalines in the RCX and it is almost 9.6V anyway. (...) You'd want some diode isolation, anode from each pack, cathodes together and tied to the power input of the RCX so that the packs won't try to drive each (...)   Re: legOS on Mac OS X

(...) I was able to get NQC working with the USB tower under Mac OS X pretty easily. IMHO, support for an application to directly access USB devices is pretty good. If anyone is trying this, feel free to grab the OSX/USB code I wrote for NQC (...) (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms

(...) John - Syngress.com will take your $24.95 USD and ship it out to you right away. Pretter price than Amazon, and I haven't put mine down yet (we'll, maybe just to type this)! Ed (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms

Hello Everyone: Does any one know if this book "Building robots with Lego Mindstorms" By Mario Ferrari and Giulio Ferrari is out yet? If so, where can I get it? Amazon.com states 12/15. Thanks JohnC (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Polarity switches

I recall someone was looking for polarity switches a few months back. I just noticed ebay item #1672552745, just in case you're still looking. JB (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: legOS on Mac OS X

(...) You mean USB on Mac OS X, or the USB tower specifically on any platform? You are really screwed if you need a serial driver on OS X. Since no serial hardware exists on post-98 Apple machines, OS X omits the legacy serial driver APIs. USB is (...) (24 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: legOS on Mac OS X

(...) Looks like you're probably the first to try this, so good luck! But if the Darwin version of cc can be built to support the h8, you're still gonna have to (most likely) make changes to firmdl & dll programs to get them working with the Mac. Do (...)   Re: 74hc237

The 237 isn't an obsolete part. Radio Shack isn't the store it used to be. You need to purchase your parts from a better source. Mouse has the part, 74HC237 Mouser stock # 511-M74HC237 , they are only $0.52, www.mouser.com (...) (24 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: legOS on Mac OS X

I haven't tried this, but, you should probably get the gcc source from the Apple CVS server? (URL) heard that they were folding their Darwin modifications back into the real gcc source, that's why gnu.org isn't shipping it yet. For now the Apple CVS (...)   Re: legOS on Mac OS X

ROSCO, I realise that would indeed be helpful! Didn't want a long and boring first post however... I've basically having a problem bulding gcc as a cross compiler. I started with the legOS HOWTO pages at (URL) . There it suggests using (...) (24 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: Problems with BricxCC release 3.3.2.12

Re: Problems with BricxCC release 3.3.2.12

(...) I've discovered a really stupid bug in my code that was causing the access violations in version 3.3.2.12. This bug has been there since I introduced the registry upgrade feature (3.3.2.2) as far as I can determine. It has been fixed but I (...) (24 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

I’ve send an e-mail to Michael Gasperi. This is his answer: (...) So he can’t give the schematics because he has sold the copy rights to the magazine. the only way to get them is to buy this magazine. (24 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: accu pack with rcx

(...) Would LEGO let you do that? Probably not. I've had no trouble running the RCX off a 12v DC supply from a transformer, with the batteries in. The RCX has great power supply circuitry. - Jacob (24 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)
