Re: LEGO robotics dis'd in CACM Forum.

(...) I think the gratest strengths of LEGO robotics (and LEGO in general) is that it works with you, not against you. It's easy to make things fit 'cause you don't have to drill holes and insert skrews. LEGO helps you keep your mind on what you (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I agree with this. I think that LEGO is probably one of the best tools for trying out ideas too. It is fast build and easy to modify - nothing beats that. Jacob (26 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Tim, Check out www.acroname.com. They have motors there that are a little slow, but are geared DC and run with the HandyBoard 9.6 volts. Use larger wheels to get more speed, or......   IR reflective sensors and Polaroid 6500 w/Expansion Board

With the QRB1114 IR reflective sensors does the sensor need voltage supplied or is that just for the transmitter? Because all I am using them for right now is to detect infrared light. Also does the expansion board take up the connectors on the HB (...) (26 years ago, 10-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Does anyone have the 8479 bar code truck?

(...) I just noticed the flex cables in the picture of this set in the latest Shop at Home catalog. They look like bicycle brake cables. Snip > Are these cables available in any other sets? There is a cable in the 8444 Air Enforcer set. SNIP (...) Shop at (...) And (...) SNIP I have been grappling with remote power delivery for a while. I ended up buying some chain links. Used with larger sized gear wheels, there seems to be little friction loss. I can highly recommend them. JB (26 years ago, 10-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I have heard of USB to RS232 adapters- I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in using these devices to connect to the Handyboard? I recently purchased a new computer, but it only has 4 USB ports, and no RS232 ports!. (26 years ago, 11-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
