    Digital Camera suggestions —Andreas Stabno
This topic seems to come up from time to time. Do you have any thoughts on these digital cameras? Kodak DC 240 or DC 280 Nikon Coolpix 800 Olympus D450Z Sony MVC FD73 Toshiba PDRM3 or M4 I'm looking for something in the $500 to $800 range that will (...)         Re: Digital Camera suggestions —Jeff Johnston
(...) This is what I use. I love it. Not as much macro or zoom capability as the FD73, but much higher resolution. Uses a CompactFlash card so you can save lots of pics on one card, or save them with less compression (JPG is a 'lossy' compression (...) (25 years ago, 20-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

(...) And just as importantly, buy from a store with a customer-friendly return policy. Not Circuit City or CompUSA for example. Both have restocking fee policies, and while they might not always enforce them, they _can_, and you shouldn't have to (...) (25 years ago, 20-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

(...) YB73m What do you do about downloading the pictures? Did you buy a card reader or do you just go and fix a sandwich while you wait. :) I'm shying away from the Sony digicams because of disk storage, and am narrowing down the search to the (...)           Re: Digital Camera suggestions —Mike Stanley
(...) Assuming you have a desktop pc and not a laptop (you can get PCMCIA adapters for CF cards - I have one and use it in my laptop) I'd suggest you look into a reader. USB would be nice and fast, but you gotta be running 98 (never could get USB to (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

Re: Digital Camera suggestions —Jeff Barnett
(...) I agreee. The floppys arent the best in the world. I have one of the Mavicas. And untill they design a camera that has a internal CD burner, i dont plan on replacing it. I have seen the cameras that use serial communications, and USB. And the (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

(...) How many computers available at your local computer stora have MiniDisk drives?? I think zips would be a good thing as well. The only downfall to both of these ideas is that not many computers have drives to support them. Everyone has a disk (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

Re: Digital Camera suggestions —Mike Stanley
(...) There is already a camera by Panasonic that incorporates a SuperDisk (120mb) drive and a USB connection into one camera. Connect it to a USB-enabled Mac or PC and voila! instant SuperDisk drive. Same thing could be done for Minidisc or (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

Re: Digital Camera suggestions —Todd Lehman
(...) I was skeptical of floppies in the beginning, but in my experience as a Mavica owner, how badly it stinks seems to depend on how fast photos are being taken. If I'm snapping bazillions of quick photos (people or other fast-moving random stuff) (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)

(...) Well, I'm embarassingly low-tech for a professional compugeek. Right now I'm running on a rather ancient Mac clone, so I don't have USB capability.      I have a Sony FD-91. Zoom is radical and macro is kick butt. This camera runs about 1000 dollars. But i know where you can get one online for around 800-850. www.pricewatch.com and search for FD91 at the top. If you would like you can E-mail me and (...)         Re: Digital Camera suggestions —Frank Filz
(...) I have an Olympus D450Z and am really liking it. It's macro capability isn't as good as the Sony, but probably as good as most of the rest of the $500 cameras. It also has a 3x optical zoom. One thing I am really starting to like about it (...) (25 years ago, 22-Feb-00, to lugnet.publish)
